We had a great experience at this resort. The location is ideal—it's not far from the airport and it boasts some most beautiful views of the bay and Herceg Novi town.||The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We were particularly impressed with the level of cleanliness across the entire resort. The rooms, in particular, were modern and were cleaned efficiently on a daily basis, which was much appreciated.||A huge shoutout goes to the staff at the pool bar! The two Argentinian ladies and the Chilean waiter were brilliant, and we really enjoyed chatting with them||There were always plenty of sunloungers available—we really enjoyed sitting near the sea on the days we had sunshine only 2 out of 7!). There are also activities like boules and ping pong you can play on your own, plus animation team activities such as rifle shooting, archery, darts, and shuffleboard. Lido, Nikolas, and Omar were great fun! We also enjoyed Kayaking, which was great value at only €15 for one hour's rental.||The food in the buffet was for the majority lovely (see comments below re. towards end of our stay) and featured a wide variety of options, including meat, fish, pasta, pizzas, salad, and a great selection of bread, cheeses, and cold meats. The snack bar near the pool also looked great (we didn't eat there though) serving things like fries, burgers, waffles, and ice cream in the late afternoon.||There was a wide range of all-inclusive drinks. The wine was very drinkable, with the dry rosé and the prosecco being particularly nice. The lager was also good. We liked the convenience of having some of the drinks available as self-serve options.||As the weather wasn't so great on some of the days, we bought a day trip to Dubrovnik from the vendor in the hotel, and at €35 each for a return bus ticket, we thought this was reasonable and much cheaper than the package we were offered through Jet2. We also took the taxi boat over to Herceg Novi. While the €15 return ticket each felt a little steep, it was a fun experience. You could use the ticket numerous times over a day but we only did the one return trip as there wasn't much to do there.||The evenings were nice if not a bit nippy at the resort. We particularly enjoyed relaxing in the 'egg' seats in La Bahia Bar, just chilling and watching the occasional cruise ship sail past.||The evening entertainment—a mix of live music and DJs—was what you'd expect towards the end of the season, but it was perfectly fine for a relaxing holiday evening.||Unfortunately I do have to mention a small number of areas for improvement, mainly for management to take note of, so that they can take this hotel from a 4 star to even better in the future. Some of these can't be changed (i.e. steps, bugs going around) but I thought it would be worthwhile to mention for potential visitors to the hotel. ||Maybe it's part of the iberostar brand, but having to pay 3,5 euros for the safe each day was new to us. We paid it as we wanted to keep our things safe but most hotels now offer this complimentary to guests so this felt a bit behind the times. ||Being given 2 coffee pods to last you the whole week in your room felt a bit stingy- you had to pay 4 euros if you wanted 4 more of these. I would have preferred a kettle and unlimited instant sachets instead of a fancy coffee machine. ||The resort has a lot of steps and hills, this was fine for us as we're young but I could imagine it would be difficult for older people or those with mobility issues. I slipped once on one of the steps to the buffet and cut my foot, but the restaurant staff were helpful in getting me napkins and plasters. ||Towards the end of our trip, you could tell the kitchen was starting to re-use leftovers and make them into other dishes for the next service, i.e beef that was from dinner the night before being covered in sauce for lunch the next day to try and disguise/refresh it. I know this happens all over the place in all inclusives but it was really obvious here, which made us question how fresh some of the food was on our last few days. It was particularly noticeable when the white bread served on our last day had all the crusts cut off - presumably they'd gone a bit stale!||I'd be remiss to not mention the amount of people who were ill, including ourselves on our last day, at the resort. It came over me so quickly during our last breakfast that, embarrassingly, I was physically sick in the restaurant. This was pretty mortifying but I am sharing this because the staff could not have been nicer about it and did not make me feel embarrassed, especially the cleaner who after having to sort it all out, came to check if I was ok and needed anything. Really lovely. We heard from various people that they were also ill with vomiting, tummy aches etc. ||As I was ill, we requested a late check out as I was in no fit state to leave the room for a few hours. After some difficulties in communication, this was sorted by reception who gave us the room until our transfer pickup at 4pm to allow me time to recover and rest.||My boyfriend then became ill at the airport, so I realised it probably wasn't something I'd eaten, but the virus/bug that we had heard was apparently sweeping the nearby village. We saw an environmental health officer in her white coat earlier in the week at the hotel so we presume this was to do with that. Not an ideal end to the holiday, but of course, you can get sick anywhere in the world so we don't blame the hotel itself. Although it has made us reconsider returning. ||Overall, this resort offers comfort and relaxation in a beautiful setting. There were just a few little gripes that tainted things ever so slightly for us, but we still had a lovely and relaxing holiday, which is just...
Read moreWe’ve just got home from a 2 week break at this wonderful hotel, and I’m already missing its stunning mountain views and lovely staff. It has THE best views over the Bay of Kotor, and I can be confident with that statement, as we rented scooters and drove the whole length of the coast! Because we had scooters, we didn’t go on any of their tours, but I noticed that they offered all the highlights at very reasonable prices. There is also a water taxi to take you to Herceg Novi town for €10 euros each way, or €15 euros per day for as many trips as you want, and most people use it at some point as it’s a 5km walk to the nearest amenities otherwise. Prior to arrival, I’d booked a sea-view room, and I let the hotel know that we’re always up early and love to watch the sunrise, so could they please make sure our room faced as directly east as possible. They kindly fulfilled my request (room 2411), and I was completely blown away by our view, so much so that I set my alarm for 5am every day so as not to miss out! The dawn birdsong is out of this world too. The bedroom was a great size with lots of storage, and the bed was very comfortable, although the only negative was that it was like 2 singles pushed together as it had a big divide down the middle. The bathroom was a touch on the small side, but the shower had good pressure. The weather was a little unsettled, and the pool/sea were very ‘refreshing’ but bearable. We enjoyed swimming out most mornings to their floating pontoon, then sitting on it having a warm-up in the sun! There were plenty of sun-loungers on the beach and round the pool, plus several really comfortable daybeds poolside, but you’ll need to get up early to get one! The food was what I expected for an all-inclusive, nothing to write home about, but plenty of options. I did hear them telling people that you could also request food you like if need be. You can also have breakfast earlier than the normal time of 7.30am upon request, which is handy if you’re going on a tour, or have to leave early for the airport. I personally chose all-inclusive though to save money on our alcohol consumption, as I do love a cocktail on holiday, and the tequila sunrises, margaritas, and their ‘Iberostar’ cocktail all went down a treat, and were even made a bit ‘stronger’ on request! Apart from the spectacular views, my favourite thing about the hotel was the staff, always friendly, helpful and accommodating. I’d like to particularly mention the following people that went ‘above and beyond’ and stood out for us in the hopes they get some recognition for it from their employer: In the restaurant, Mirko the bar/restaurant manager is just the loveliest, professional man, all the staff under his management have total respect for him, and both the restaurant and bar areas are run effectively and efficiently. Then there’s Aldo, one of the waiters, and he is a pure joy to be around; always singing, with a particular penchant for sea shanties, and he’s always reciting quotes, his level of English is extraordinary! He’s intelligent, articulate, and hilarious. Ogy is the customer relations guy, and was always on hand with any information we needed on Montenegro. At the pool bar, there’s Zvonko, Nickola, Dejan, and Sofia, all happy to have a laugh and joke with you whilst remaining professional at all times. The entertainment team were all super friendly, inclusive, enthusiastic and passionate, and included Victoria, Esfir, Liido and Omar, plus Nicholas put on an amazing fire show. There were many activities to join in on throughout the day if you’re inclined; we did the glass bottle painting which was a lot of fun. They also made a lot of effort with the evening entertainment with a casino night, live musicians, DJ, orchestra by the beach, the list goes on…Finally a mention for Bobana, the lovely lady organising the tours and the water taxi, as she was always really helpful when we had some questions. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and I would definitely stay in an Iberostar...
Read moreGary and Susan from Ireland -Where to start, wow, best holiday I've ever been on. Iberostar thank you so much for having me and my wife Susan. The whole iberostar team from reception, gardeners, spa staff, housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff, to the entertainment team were amazing and looked after us so well on our 2 week trip to Montenegro. I have to mention the people of Montenegro are sooo friendly, welcoming and nice, actually the most welcoming we have had anywhere in the world. I want to mention a few staff who deserve special credit for their very hard work, friendliness. They are a credit to the hotel and any future jobs they may have. Firstly the reception team, sorry but I didn't get the girls names but they were fantastic from the minute we stepped into the hotel. Any query we had or requested where dealt with right away and in such a pleasant manner. The spa staff - my wife had 3 treatments through out our time, facial, aromatherapy and full body and my wife loved each and everyone. The gardeners throughout the hotel were so friendly always greetings us as we passed them and always working so hard to make the hotel fantastic looking. Housekeeping - Marija was our housekeeper and done an amazing job everyday ensuring our rooms were so tidy and clean, always changing our towels, restocking toilet rolls and changing the sheets. Marija also left a lovely message on a card for my wife in the room with best wishes for my wife on her birthday which was a lovely touch. The only feedback I would give regarding house keeping is that the hotel needs to invest in new towels as a few weeks got were shredding at the ends. I would also like to mention the bar staff who were all very pleasant each day. A special mention the my good friend Janko who I would describe so talented at his job, so knowledge and such a great and easy to get on with guy. We loved hearing his stories and learning about him and his knowledge of how he has learned his trade. I asked if he could make me a cocktail of his choice, he made 2 different ones from the top of his head and no joke but one of them was the best cocktails we have ever had, I called it the Janko special so make sure to say that Gary recommended it and he will make it. He is such a credit to the iberostar team and please pass on my thankS and recognition to him. Also Anja the bar maid was so good at her job, always so attentive in clearing the bar and pool area so promptly of empty cups and drinks and always having a smile on her face. She is such a lovely and talented girl also with many skills not just as a bar maid but as an artist, ballerina etc. Anja was so nice and helpful when I was trying to practice some Montenegrin words with her each day, Hvala Puno Anja, you deserve a lot of credit for you daily hard work, always with a smile and bubbly personality, you are a credit to the iberostar team also and deserve nothing but the best in future. The restaurant staff - from the cooks, cleaners and waiters/waitresses and of course Ogy the guest relations guy, they all were so hard working, attentive to each and every table each day and so pleasant. Can my kind work be passed on also specifically to Kristijan the 17 year old boxer in the restaurant who became a friend of mine over 2 weeks, this kid is just brilliant, friendly and such a genuinely nice kid. He was fantastic at his job and always happy and prompt. Kristijan was my Montenegrin teacher, I would always try new words with him and he would always correct me and teach me new words each meal time and be so happy about it, I always think it is respectful to try and use the language in any country you visit and when I used the words Kristijan taught me with other staff members they always seemed so happy. Kristijan is such a credit to the hotel and to find out his ambitions to have his own future restaurant is inspiring at such a young age. He clearly really enjoys his job in the hotel and wants to learn and be the best so please also pass on our kind words. Review further...
