Green Cactus Hôtel — Hotel in Ben Guerir

As hotels go in Morocco, it’s pretty decent. There aren’t a lot of options in town.

Green Cactus Hotel is kind’ve on the edge of town. Not really any stores or restaurants you could walk to. It does have a restaurant onsite that’s slightly pricey. I only enjoyed the free breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Other reviewers have complained about the breakfast but I thought it was great. Breads, pastries, fresh crepes, boiled eggs, jams, honey, olives - standard Moroccan breakfast. It’s Morocco, taper your expectations and don’t expect a standard American breakfast or full English breakfast and you won’t be disappointed.

The room was spacious by local standards. The washroom was one of the nicest I’ve seen in a Moroccan budget hotel. The shower was well lit and spacious and the hot water seemed unlimited. There was a refrigerator, TV, and heat/AC unit in the room.

I booked two nights but had to leave after one. The hotel was extremely noisy—there was shouting, early morning cleaning staff yelling, and construction going on. I couldn’t do my business meeting because of the constant noise. When I complained, the receptionist was incredibly rude—he answered a phone call mid-conversation and said, “What do you want right now?” without even listening. He offered to change my room, but the whole place was chaotic. Hot water didn’t work properly, and the filtered water tasted salty.
