This is place is AMAZING. We stayed with our two young boys (2 and 6) and ended up extending our time there. Mehdi, our host, was simply the most accommodating, knowledgable, kind and dedicated host you could possibly imagine. He has refurbished his old family house with style, character and charm, all done with traditional methods. You can't really tell from the photos how beautiful this accommodation is. Artistic details round every corner, it really is a labyrinth of Moroccan-style lounges and chill out areas, all built with love and attention to detail (there's even a home-made water feature to amuse the children!). There are wonderful roof-terraces with amazing views, and delicious home cooked food (in copious quantities!!). In fact Mehdi cares so much about you enjoying your stay he does things like tries to find out, before your arrival, what food you've just had to make sure he makes you something different, but still traditionally morroccan, for your first evening. He is an absolute star, he helped us plan our days, showed us walking routes and offered to accompany us, recommended restaurants across the valley, did our laundry for free etc etc. I cannot recommend this...
Read moreDuring our trip to Morocco, we spontaneously changed our itinerary and looked for an accommodation near the Atlas Mountains and came across the Labyrinth Kasbah in Dades. We didn't have a booking and simply rang the doorbell and ask for a room. We were very warmly welcomed and got a very beautiful, spacious room with a comfortable bed as well as a large bathroom. The name of the hotel speaks for itself, as the hotel resembles a labyrinth with its stairs. Don't panic, you don't have to climb many stairs if you don't want to! But there is a lot to discover and this is what makes the place so charming. The Kasbah used to be the family home of Mehdi, the owner. He has turned his family house into a hotel with great effort and passion; it is a real gem! Genuine hospitality is written and lived here. The food is great and the view from the roof terrace over the valley is breathtaking. Mehdi also told us that sustainability is very important to him and he collects, filters and recycles the water he uses. Mehdi also offers hiking tours on certain days of the week. We will definitely be back and the next time we will stay longer than...
Mehdi and his family were such a nice, kind and warm people. They made our stay in the Dades valley unforgettable. Mehdi speaks many languages (such as Dutch) and is a professional guide in the area of his Kasbah. The village were the Kasbah is located is really authentic and not touristic at all. During the short period we stayed at Mehdi's place we learned more about Moroccan culture than during our whole trip. Mehdi is more than happy to show you around in the area and bring you to places you normally never can go. His family's Kasbah is the most beautiful place we stayed in Morocco even in comparison with an expensive Riad in Marrakech. The view is breathtaking and so peaceful. Mehdi and his family payed so much attention to detail and keeping the Kasbah authentic where every time you see something new. Mehdi and his family even pay attention to the environment by for example recycling the shower water. The rooms are super nicely decorated and the shower has a very good water pressure. Mehdi is also extremely flexible, we arrived late and a very tasty soup was prepared late in the evening. The breakfast was also one of the best we had in Morocco. Mehdi is extremely professional due to his past work experience in hotels in Marrakech and his job as a guide but at the same time does not make you feel like a tourist but rather like a friend staying over in Morocco. All in all, if you would like to have an unique experience in a beautiful environment with the extreme comfort of Medhi's famillly Kasbah and super tasty food do not book less than 3 days...
