I spent 8 nights at Manzili, and was so impressed with the experience that the team offer.
Rooms and accommodation: Basic, clean and comfortable with everything that you need. Photos attached - loved the morrocan decor! Rooms were cleaned every day.
There is a rooftop terrace with a really cool morrocan surf vibe where we would do yoga and eat our meals. This overlooked the sea and the village of tamraght and was a great place to spend time in between surf sessions. Manzilli also offer a remote working space complete with pool table, cafe etc.
Surf instruction: Hamada is an amazing surf coach! I came to manzili with some surf experience, and hamada was able to take my surfing to the next level by being very attentive, taking photos and explaining the micro adjustments I needed to make to improve. Throughout my week, I saw hamada teach people from complete beginners through to intermediates, so his instruction should benefit most people. I came to Morocco to improve my surfing and undoubtedly managed to achieve this through working with Hamada - so so grateful!
Food: I am a vegetarian and was worried that I wouldn't be able to experience authentic Moroccan cuisine as it is generally based of fish and chicken, but the chefs at manzili were able to tailor dishes to take this into account. The food was nourishing, authentic and very healthy. We were provided three meals a day. A breakfast (fresh fruit, yoghurt, omelette and eggs etc), a lunchbox or sandwich to take with us to surf, and a dinner which would range from tagine to couscous to morrocan pasties, usually accompanied by a mixed salad. This was way better than I would expect from a hostel and the chefs wouldn't look out of place in a high end restaurant. Always amazing Moroccan tea after dinner too!
Excursions and service: Over my 8 nights, we did the following (over and above daily surf sessions)
Visited imsoume (longest right hand wave in Morocco) x 2 sandboarding x 2 visit to agadir x 2 visit to paradise valley
We were accompanied always by locals who knew the best places to go and how to give us the most authentic experience possible. Shout out to Soufine, Ayoub and Matilde, one of whom would always accompany us and make sure we get the most out of each day.
We also had daily yoga which was run by qualified and experienced instructors who would prioritise getting our bodies ready for the next day's surf.
Overall an amazing experience across all fronts, way in excess of my expectations and incredible value for money. Thanks so much Manzili team and I hope to see...
Read moreSpent 7 days of Surfing and Yoga with my partner in December over Christmas which was a birthday gift and to escape the UK winter
Few things to note if you are thinking of booking
Pros : Organised for you for a set amount of days Food is nuitritious and tasty Chef and staff are friendly Yoga teacher was skilled and caring Photos were taken although used for content not for surfing progress and not offered to be sent to guests
Cons :
if you only speak English a lot of guests only speak French (not a major issue but something to be mindful of if travelling alone and can’t speak French you may be abit lonely) If you add on surf lessons they are at a high price compared to other options in the area of 45€ where as some are 25€ or 35€ one on one
Limited resources of transport and instructors for different surfing levels - travelled to the same spots multiple times just 5 minutes down the road because we had new people arriving and they were at beginner level and we were advised not to split the groups due to boards, or vans were not eligible to travel outside of the area due to license restrictions which meant a lot of waiting around when travelling in large groups
some people chose to get separate surf lessons outside of manzili for this reason as they felt their was not enough progress in their surfing week Staying additional nights has a very high price compared to other accomodation in the area Surf lessons in the morning although without instructor there you will need to hire your own board if you choose to surf in the afternoon
even if you pay the 15€ surf board Insurance which is daily you can’t use the board without instructor there
If you ask for transfers from Manager or reception they are at very high prices 50€ to Imsoune rather then being advised of souk to surf shuttle which is only 12€ so do you own research as it will save you € Dinner is quite late at 8pm .. meaning people had trouble having a well rested sleep
Overall was a nice experience although felt like for the amount of people the place was hosting was more like an expensive bed and breakfast with surfing in the mornings rather than a surf camp focusing...
Read moreAfter a long period of rain and dark days in Belgium, I was looking forward to a few days of peace and sunshine at Tamraght Morocco. I chose Tamraght as my location instead of Taghazout because of its authenticity. I chose Manzili Surf House because of its good location, good reviews and coworking option.
I arrived without many expectations but I can tell you that they were exceeded in every way. I found a family away from home!
Many thanks to Hamada, Soufian, Mathilde, Lucie, the great chef Mohamed, ....
I had already surfed in quite a few places in the world but the professional approach of the surf instructors taught me a lot. With their boundless enthusiasm they fueled my passion to surf more again.
The food at the Manzili is top quality. Both breakfast, surf lunch and dinner. Also nice is that you can eat a group meal in the evening which allows you as a solo traveler to find instant companionship.
Also the rooms are spacious, clean, well maintained and equipped with all necessities.
A plus is also their coworking cafe where a good wifi connection and delicious smoothies ease the work suffering.
To conclude, I had a fantastic stay and Tamraght is becoming my new medicine for Belgian winters.
You guys will definitely...
