Exceptional! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Deserves more than 5 stars, 20/5
I needed a relaxing last minute break and decided to travel alone. It was my first timely properly holidaying by myself and I was abit anxious, but there was no need for that. It was such an amazing, worth it and welcoming experience and I would without a doubt come back, recommend to friends, both travelling alone, in pairs or groups.
Medhi and Elora were outstanding and exceptional host's, truly wonderful people and you will be in good hands!
Both were so helpful with day to day questions, booking queries, making sure you felt welcomed, driving to the souk/Medina and mellow and also if you wanted to be alone and do you're own thing totally cool and fine, really accommodating. I was picked up and dropped off on arrival and departure to adgadir which was lovely.
Medhi is an experienced, funny and knowledgeable surfer with many years of experience and whether your level is beginner, intermediate or pro there's something for everyone. In 4 days I could surf, turn and catch waves by myself and I started at beginner level, there are also other surf camps in the area which made me stressed on which camp to go with, but the previous 5 star reviews left by previous guests, sealed the deal and I was happy to add to that.
Elora also surf's too, but leads the yoga within the retreat and that was also an exceptional experience. Really skilled and was open to doing a variety of different yoga's depending on your mood/request, really making sure you were feeling comfortable and very accommodating. We did sunset yoga at the beach twice which was so grounding and truly a breath taking experience, one for the books.
Also to note the waves were great for the time of year I visited.
I also wanted to emerse myself within Moroccan culture, life and be and live around the locals and the in-house chef was so phenomenal and credited to this experience. Moroccan food wasn't on my list of top ten cuisine's as I had not been exposed to Moroccan food before, but wow 😳🤯 so delicious and now it's in my top 3. Everyday there was a different variation of breakfast, light lunch and authentic Moroccan dinner, finished with a desert, simply beautiful.
I stayed in a 3 bedroom shared room which was really cosy, clean and my roommate was very nice, so my experience regarding the room and cleanliness was great. The buildings interior is stunning and beautifully decorated if you have an appreciation for Moroccan Interior with a gorgeous rooftop perfect for chilling out.
All in all, the hotel is perfect for solo travellers, young people and older People, everyone with a nice and friendly vibe. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and insha'Allah will be back again.
Don't hesitate to book, truly...
Read moreThe rooms are clean (new) and the bathroom is very nice (the shower is perfect!). The only downside to the bathroom is that the mirror was too low for a tall person but besides this, it was clean and very pretty! The beds are a bit on the hard side but it is actually amazing after doing an all-day exercises, so my back was very happy every next day.
The food is on point and I had more than enough. However, if you want to try the stores, you will need to walk 10 minutes only. To me the fact that the place was a bit higher and away from the center was good as it meant that it would be quiet and with a nice view. It is near the spa area and various very nice coffees.
The host are very welcoming and very flexible. My visit was during in a rather quiet time in the area so I was at time the only guest and I can reassure you that if it happens to you that it is not awkward as you will be always busy and get two coaches!
The surf coaching is on point as there are two people and in the morning always with you in the water (from experience it is not always a given). You will also get two video analysis which is not always done by surfcamp (or at an extra cost or only once). As for surfskating, they can bring you to Banana Point which has a very quiet and long line (perfect to train sliding), which is not busy either. However, the team has no surfskate instructors so they cannot teach you in the skatepark (they have been very transparent with me before my booking) but it does not mean they cannot provide you with tips ;)
The yoga is perfect as it is not a dynamic one and more on the stretching one that actually take quite a while for each posture (following the studies stretching in one posture for 5-10min is how you get more flexible), so I was very happy with the yin yoga!
Overall my first solo trip and my first surf camp were very positive! The flexibility of the host, the beautiful facilities, the coaching, and the great food made the place worth to be put on your list if coming to Tamragh. The dormitories are a maximum of 3 people, meaning that the place will never be overcrowded , and therefore, you will also be able to rest along the way. As the place is newly open, some stuff will probably be changed when I come back, but for a recent opening, they managed to provide a high level of services (they can also arrange the booking to the spa for you).
The staff speaks a bit of French, English and German.
Hope my review on my experience with them during the period of January 14th to 20th will be of help for...
Read moreI recently spent 10 incredible days here, and I can't recommend this retreat highly enough! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the warm and friendly staff and the owners Elora and Medi who made sure that every aspect of my stay was perfect.
The accommodations were comfortable and simply furnished in an authentic moroccan style, providing a serene environment to relax after a day filled with activities. The stunning views of the ocean from my balcony added to the overall ambiance, making it a truly magical place to unwind.
The surf lessons were fantastic! My level is advanced and I booked my lessons with an additional video analysis in the evening. Medi my surf instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure, I knew what to work on each day. I improved my surfing skills more than I could have imagined, thanks to his expert guidance.
The yoga sessions were equally exceptional. Each evening, we practiced yin yoga on a rooftop overlooking the sea, which provided as with a great balance between activity and recovery. The yoga instructors were skilled at tailoring the sessions to our needs, ensuring everyone felt comfortable and engaged.
The healthy meals provided were a highlight as well—fresh, delicious, and nourishing! It was great to share meals with fellow guests, creating a sense of community that added to the overall experience.
Overall, my time at Melo Surf and Yoga was magical. If you’re looking for a rejuvenating surf and yoga retreat with a breathtaking backdrop, this is the place to be. I can’t wait to return! Thanks to everyone that made my stay unforgettable!
