Issouganes N Toubkal — Hotel in caïdat d'Asni

I originally set out to Maison Issouganes N Toubkal to surprise a friend for a birthday lunch, a peaceful escape from the chaos of the city.

Not knowing exactly what to expect, I embarked on the 1+ hour drive from Marrakech. What awaited was beyond anything I imagined: breathtaking views, total immersion in nature, and a deep, soothing sense of peace. Everyone instantly fell in love with the place. My friends had stayed the night before and brought gear with them. I hadn’t — just the clothes on my back — but somehow, that made it even more special. A spontaneous decision to stay another night turned into one of the most memorable weekends I’ve had in a long time.

Our first evening was pure magic: a delicious dinner under the stars.

The next day, we set off on an 8-hour hike (that felt like 2!) through the mountains, guided by the incredible Mr. Mostafa and accompanied by a charming donkey. We explored caves, drank straight from mountain springs and waterfalls, and stopped for lunch — and a nap — along the way.

It was truly unforgettable. The kind of experience best shared with great company, but just as powerful if you’re looking to retreat, reset, and reconnect with nature.

I stayed 3 days at the lodge at the beginning of February with two friends. We got picked up by the owner in Marrakesh and ended the route by a walk with a guide and a donkey from below the valley. Otherwise, you can access by a newly built road. The gite is at an extremely quiet location, with beautiful views on mountains, a valley and small villages. The place was built recently but with all the charm of local materials, large and comfortable rooms, and an incredible terrasse. It is charming, well equipped and very clean. We went daily for hikes with a guide who was really professional and knowledgeable on the surroundings. We were welcomed by all local inhabitants which made every trip a pleasure. In the evening you can relax on the terrasse, the library or dining room with a fire place, or spend some time in the hammam. The food was excellent every day, with a good breakfast and various Moroccan dishes at every meal. The owner and his staff are really friendly, they make sure you feel home and pampered at any time. We have been looking for a quite place, whereas we can disconnect from our daily life and found this Pearl up in the Mountain of the High Atlas!||Upon our arrival we have been blown away about the breathtaking landscape and the amazing accommodation of Mustafa. ||You feel directly that this house is filled with love and has an amazing Berber spirit.||The rooms are just awesome with the big beds and the very chic bathroom. Indeed we felt right away like at home and slept like babies in this atmosphere.||Also the very delicious food prepared by Karim was just perfect with the traditionally home made Berber specialities. ||To discover the stunning landscape you can weather go on a hiking tour together with Said or Mustafa or you can discover the little valley just underneath of the House.||We went to discover the very lovely valley, which felt like a Berber Oasis with all its trees and the animals.||The people in the village are super friendly and welcoming. ||For sure we will recommend Mustafa‘s House to all our friends as its such an amazing experience to stay there and we are already looking forward to visit...
