Our visit to the Kasbah was part of a package holiday we booked with Discover Ltd. We spent three days there and four in Marrakech. I have divided the review into positive and negative features.||Positive features:|Great location with spectacular view of the Atlas mountains both from the dining area and our room. The staff was also helpful, especially Mohammed who was our guide during the complementary walk.|Complementary hammam session was also very enjoyable.| Really good walks in the mountains and easily accessible from the Kasbah.|The mint tea was a welcome end of each meal both at lunch and dinner.||Things that need urgent improvement:|The room was a good size and had both a patio at the front and a little balcony. However, the constant underfloor heating which was turned up at night made the room so hot that we slept with the window open. ||Whilst the timing for lunch and dinner were very regular not all of the food served was of high standards. For example the beef and chicken tagines were great, but the lamb one had very little meat and a lot of fat. Similarly the vegetables served with the main course could be improved both in terms of variety and ways of cooking. During the meal on Wednesday for example on top of the regular bread we were served rice and rather cold chips with the chicken tagine.||Lunch consisted of a small salad for starter and chicken couscous as main with fruit for desert. We were rather taken aback when we found that the price for lunch was 220 dirhams x person. We found this rather excessive given that the portion of chicken in the couscous consisted of two very little pieces and some vegetables. In addition the fruit served as pudding for lunch was subsequently cut up and served as fruit salad for dinner. I think both the pricing for and quality of the lunch need reviewing. Just to give a comparison, we had a much better dinner including alcohol at a Marrakech restaurant for the price of one lunch at the Kasbah.||Finally I don’t expect Morocco to apply western health and safety standards, but the stairs we had to climb up and down on our way to and from the restaurant need to be looked at as they are dangerous given they are of irregular heights have bits missing and in some areas there is no rail to hold on to. On our arrival my partner fell while carrying a jug of water back to our room. Fortunately he wasn’t badly hurt but this incident is indicative of how dangerous those sets of stairs are. I think the safety of the stairs needs to be reviewed.||I did send this review to Discover Ltd. but have so far received no assurance that my concerns have...

Read moreThis is no ordinary place! It’s EXTRA-ordinary!!||Our family’s stay at the Kasbah de Toubkal in July 2025 was amazing. From the moment our transport arrived to pick us up in Essaouira, we knew we were in good hands. Rachid our driver, (arranged by the Kasbah) was wonderful! We’d had some hairy/scary driving experiences with taxis over the previous few days in Morocco so we were delighted with his safe driving and he was very attentive to our needs regarding comfort, toilet breaks, air con, water etc. Once we arrived in the village of Imlil and began the short uphill walk (with our luggage carried by mule — a first for us!), we knew we were in for something special. The Kasbah doesn’t market itself as a traditional hotel, and that’s exactly what makes it so unique. It’s a place rooted in authentic Berber culture and the hospitality shown to us was exceptional.||The setting is breathtaking — perched high in the Atlas Mountains, with amazing panoramic views. The pool, framed by the rugged peaks offered the most stunning views we’ve ever encountered. It was so peaceful and relaxing, a fabulous place to disconnect and slow down. ||When searching for our accommodation in the Atlas Mountains, we were really drawn to the Kasbah due to it's commitment to the local community.|The owners, through their partnership with the Moroccan NGO 'Education for All', created a model of sustainable tourism that gives back. Knowing that our stay contributed to educational opportunities (a 5% levy added to our bill) for local girls made the experience even more meaningful, especially as we have two daughters. The Kasbah is also involved in funding other services and amenities to the local Community (including rubbish collection). The staff are from local villages, and all seem so happy to work there, making us feel very welcome.||The rooms were simple yet comfortable, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Meals were traditional Moroccan dishes, our servers were very attentive and the food was very tasty and plentiful.|We took a free guided walk with Mohammed, a lovely experience. We also availed of the on-site Hammam which was a memorable cultural experience for us!|If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a beautiful view — this is it! We left with unforgettable memories and a deep appreciation for the people and culture of this remarkable region.|Thank you to all the staff who made our trip to the...
