From the warm welcome and attention to detail, to the refined cuisine and captivating calm surrounding the property, Dar Tafantant is an oasis of a guesthouse in the Tuscan-looking hills a short hour south of Marrakesh. ||||Although yearning for more time, we stayed a single night culminating a 1,600km road trip through the Atlas mountains. Satisfying on every level, from landscape to luscious interiors, the boutique-style hotel seems to offer far more than we could experience. We passed on the tantalising, moroccan-tiled pool simply because of winter temperatures, had no time to read books from the library lounge nor fully appreciate the gardens (including a petanque piste and a brand new outside kitchen). Having the place to ourselves gave us a chance to talk at length with the hospitable owner Mohammed, a serial entrepreneur who shared stories of every object and design choice, around a roaring fire in the berber carpet-lined restaurant. Wild donkeys and kittens, cactii and glamping tents, space for weddings and views to kill. Into mint tea on your private balcony or restaurant rooftop? Authentic tajine or home-made chocolate fondant? Warm crepes and fresh orange juice at sunrise?||||We arrived by rental car and were able to park behind locked gates - airport transfer is possible we were told. Do ask before arrival if you're in need of alcohol as I'm sure it can be arranged - wasn't an option nor an issue for us. Wifi was shaky at times so forget a netflix binge but then again the idea is to disconnect.||||Family-friendly, uber-romantic, peaceful yet pronounced, Dar Tafanfant is so much more than what pictures convey and is totally...
Read moreWe arrived at about 8pm and there was only 1 other guest staying in the hotel. The man showed us 3 rooms, we then asked for the prices and he didn't know the prices. Their wifi didn't work so we literally stood there looking at each other while we waited. He then called his boss to ask about the prices, then for some reason he realised he could find them on his phone.... after saying he didn't know the prices. 30 minutes had passed and we were getting no where and it was getting very frustrating. 1 room had a bath and it was now 8.30pm ish. I asked could we have the room with the bath for the cheaper price due to the time of check in and no one being in the hotel (we were standing in this room). He said no, we waited for the actual boss. Had an argument for 20 minutes and then he let us stay in there. We were served tagine for dinner which was nice but they tried to charge us 500DH for it. Nice place but terrible service. Oh and the air con...
Read moreBeautiful small hotel with a very nice pool and the best food we had in Morocco. Home made jams and local egg dishes for breakfast and the best chicken tajine ever. Abdul takes great care of the guests and also the other staff is very helpful and friendly. The landscape is just amazing and remembered us a bit of Tuscany. I also made a hiking tour with a friend of Abdel. The tour starts directly at the hotel and takes 3-4 hours. We had tea on the top of the mountain and breathtaking views. After spending some time in Marrakech this small „boutique style“ Lodge is the perfect place to relax and to come down. If we come to Morocco again we certainly will visit Dar...
