'The Blue Waves' Aparto Hotel sits perched on a steep slope overlooking Oualideya lagoon.
The 24 apartments are accessible by climbing steps up to four levels each offering incredible sea views.
The complex is clean, attractive and comfortable. There are two small swimming pools on levels two and three.
The consierge Rashid was brilliantly helpful.
He hauled our heavy luggage from the underground car park up 74 steps to the one bed apartment and made sure we had everything.
God bless him.
Inside, the flat is spacious with an equipped kitchen, shower, toilet, a double bed and lounge of Moroccan wall seating traditional 'sideris', and plenty of sleep room for five.
Les Vagues Bleues is not cheap, 800-1,000 plus DH per night, but among the best accomodation in Oualidiya.
The resort has security cameras, is well lit up at night with night time guards.
Beware! Ants plague the resort and crawl on you in bed. We had to kill many in the apartment to keep them down. So annoying.
In the town, you can find a basic studios for 150 DH, apartments for 300-400 DH and a resort with a pool for 700 DH in July, prices increasing in August.
Near the lagoon expect to pay more. We saw old, outdated, but clean apartments in villas near the lagoon costing 800-1,200+ DH per night. Yucky and not good value.
Oualidiya has many nice fish restaurants, pizza, tacos and grills that are pricier near the lagoon.
The delightful lagoon waters are protected from the heaving Atlantic tides by a natural rocky sea wall and lined with golden sandy beaches.
It is great and safe to swim for families, kids and the elderly.
Speak Arabic / French if you can. I don't hear much English used in tourist areas.
However, that will change in the near future with the official replacing of French by English in schools...
Read moreThe best place in Oualidia. Seriously... the other resorts are quite far from the beach. This is steps to the lagoon and the main beach. The two pools are clean and quiet and the accommodation is so spacious for the price. The best part was the private terrace for sunset views. the staff were amazing, catering to our every request. The only downside were ants in the room and facilities were a bit dated but this is pretty standard for Morocco. You won't find a better...
