We spent four nights at Les Terrasses de l'Atlas in October 2017. It's a very special place, a lovely renovated traditional Berber house in the village of Afensou, which is itself nestled in the foothills of the western High Atlas Mountains. Luc, the owner, picked us up from Taroudant, and at the end of our stay arranged a grand taxi back to the Sous Valley. From there we caught another grand taxi to Agadir, an hour away on the coast.||||Our room was very comfy, and enjoyed gorgeous views towards the mountains, plus a hammock for relaxing! In the mornings we went for walks up different nearby valleys - Luc drove us to starting points in his 4x4 and later collected us at the top of the tracks.||||Evening activities included helping to prepare delicious Berber food, and music provided by local Berber drummers.||||What was probably the highlight of our stay was walking with Hafida (Luc's wife) and their daughter through the nearby villages and along the river bed in the late afternoon. This is the way to see the locals going about their various activities, and there is much more going on than you would realise from looking out over the tranquil vistas from the...
Read moreJust returned from one of the best experiences of our lives, we spent 8 days with Luc and Hafida on a bespoke holiday which included, staying in their charming guest house in a tiny Berber village in the hillside and doing some local walking which was tranquil and beautiful. Then a our trip into the wilderness started, once off road we spend 5 days and 4 nights wild camping. The landscape included old french forts, the Draa Valley, the White Beach, not forgetting plateaus and the dessert, and to our delight there were wild camels everywhere along the way!.We felt safe and extremely well looked after throughout the whole trip and nothing was ever too much trouble including ice cold drinks in the desert and chocolate mousse for pudding!! Hafida is the most amazing cook ever, we certainly didn't loose weight even after the miles we walked!! If you want a truly extraordinary experience this would be the trip for you, we could not recommend it more!! We will certainly be holidaying with Luc and Hafida again, thank you for the most...
Read moreI travelled from New Zealand to experience Morocco, I wanted to be away from the crowds and be surrounded by the infamous High Atlas Mountains, and I wasn't disappointed.||I was travelling by myself and needed somewhere quiet to read , walk and generally take in the ambience of being out in the country and watching life go by.||Luc and Hafida make sure you are well looked after, Hafida is a very good cook and the food is just wonderful, sitting out under candle light drinking a cold beer and eating traditional Berber food is a fantastic experience.||My advice for trekking in these hills is to bring good walking boots and keep hydrated ,the overnight stay high on the mountain tops is a highlight and a must do to see the sunset and wake with the sun rising.||Highly...
