When travelling off the beaten track I prefer to stay outside the main towns if possible. On a recent extended trip through the south of Morocco I had the pleasure of staying at Borj Biramane, located just before entering the oasis village of Icht, at the foot of Jebel Bani, which has the most magnificent colours at sunset.||||Spacious bungalow-style rooms with airconditioning and ensuites, and Berber tents are scattered throughout the desert gardens and wandering pathways. Relaxed atmospheric outdoor cushioned seating areas, a small pool and large terrace, create a superb setting for relaxing. Borj Biramane is very conveniently located for exploring this area of ‘sud maroc’, including neolithic art sites of which there are many, Amtoudi agadirs and gorge. ||||Whilst there we met Paul our wonderful host and many of the friendly staff, including the highly personable and entertaining Abdel. Meals are superb and are served al fresco on the terrace; Alcoholic drinks are available. My friend and I stayed 2 nights and I will return without hesitation. Highly...
Read moreWe were driving from Zagora across to Guelmim and needed somewhere to stop for the night. There are very few hotels in this area, and we didn't like the look of most of them, but Borj Biramane is fantastic! We had a comfortable room and an excellent dinner and breakfast. It was also nice and warm and well insulated, even though we were visiting in winter and some of the other desert hotels we stayed in were freezing at night. What most impressed us was that, even though the place was packed with a huge group of bikers from some motorcycle rally, the staff made a real effort to fit us in and make us feel welcome. They helped us to eat dinner before the big group and breakfast after them, and they remembered to give my wife vegetarian food as specified over the phone. Everyone from the owner, Paul, through to the receptionist and restaurant/bar staff made us feel very happy and at home. Highly...
Read moreWe stayed here for 1 night at the end of a desert trip. it is in the middle of nowhere but despite its unusual location, the facilities are first class and very welcome.||||It falls between a quirky and boutique hotel, it's very well run, very clean and the staff are welcoming and helpful. It is run by 2 french guys who have built it slowly from the desert wilderness, doing a fantastic job.||||Our room was huge, the facilities were good and all you would need. ||||There is a plunge pool, big terrace and nice views from the rooftop. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. There were a group of motocross riders staying here as well and they were a lot of fun!||||The food was included as part of the price and was good quality and plentiful.||||We would recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again - we want to explore this area in more detail so it would make a...
