*Avoid this hotel at all costs! The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had * I booked a room at Lixus beach resort to spend the night with my husband after our wedding party. To avoid any surprises, I sent my dad earlier that day to check it out and ask for any requirements needed and nothing was shared with him at this point.
We arrived at 6am following day in our wedding attire, exhausted and looking forward to some rest. But instead of welcoming us, the staff at the reception gave us a hard time about our passports and marriage license. They said they needed both of our passports and a proof of marriage, even though we showed them my North American passport, my husbands ID, our marriage license application, and we’re literally in our wedding outfits still?! They made us wait for two hours in the lobby, so much back and forth and empty promises, lots of arguing and yelling at us and our family. They didn't offer us any water, any room, or any solutions.
A lady from reception approached me saying she felt bad for me and I should just go get my husbands passport and it will all be solved but at that point I vowed I wouldn’t stay at this hotel even if they offer me lifetime free nights after what they put me through.
They treated us like criminals, not like guests. They ruined the most important night of our lives and left such a bad impression of Morocco for my friends and in-laws who were all coming from North America and waited outside while all this was happening. We ended up leaving without checking in, feeling humiliated and angry.
If they only offered me to go rest and change out of my heavy dress while someone can go fetch my husband’s passport from home, that would’ve been okay. But instead they chose to make our lives harder and waste our time. My dad is a respectable government official and offered to write a commitment letter stating everything we shared is true and we can get my husbands passport in few hours but they didn’t accept and kept disrespecting us further and even got to some physical altercations.
This hotel has no respect for its customers, especially for Moroccan-born and Muslim couples. They discriminate against us and make up ridiculous rules that don't apply to European couples. This is unacceptable and shameful. I will never stay at this hotel again and I will warn everyone I know to avoid it. This hotel and its management are the worst!
PS: We went to Saudi Arabia a few weeks later, where they actually have strict laws about marriage and couples, and no one asked us for anything at...
Read moreI CAUTION anyone booking this hotel to save yourself the headache and humiliation, and go with a brand that caters to its customers because Lixus Beach is a pathetic excuse of a hotel, with an even more pathetic staff.

Read moreThe check-in was a little bit on the slow side and was a bit busy, (more check in staff would have been a benefit), but in general I found all the staff throughout the hotel to be polite and helpful. Check out was less busy and a simple speedy affair. Nice sized room with large and very comfy bed. Large bathroom with large walk-in shower. Nice sized balcony with spectacular sunset views out to sea and of the pool complex. The room had a working minibar fridge (unstocked), for you to keep your drinks cool. My room had a flat screen TV with channels in different languages, but we never even switched it on! My rooms air conditioning was either defective or not working, but I prefer to sleep with the balcony door open anyway so I didn’t report it. It’s a resort hotel so expect noise from the animation teams, entertaining children poolside especially during the busy summer periods. Buffet breakfast was good with a variety of different options available, lunch and dinner are similar but have various options on offer, which change slightly depending on the day. Overall food quality was good. Try to avoid busy times in the dining area as it can become very busy indeed. The pool and gardens are great and the outside areas are well kept and clean. Afternoon tea and cakes is also available. If you pick a poolside room expect to hear noise from the evening entertainment up until about midnight, (or you can go downstairs and watch it). I believe there are other services available such as wellness, but I didn’t make use of them. If traveling by car (as we did), there is ample secure parking within the grounds of the hotel. The hotel is easy to find and is sign posted. Larrache and Asilah are fairly close by and worth a visit, (I especially recommend Asilah). We both enjoyed...
