We spent 1 night with Aude and Omar and it was a great experience! From the start, with the very first email with Aude, I knew I was dealing with genuine and authentic people. There was no over the top enthusiasm, no oversale, just total honesty about what to expect and I can now attest that everything we were told were spot on. ||||We were warmly welcomed and all the ladies who work there were smiling and were just lovely. The family room we booked was good size, clean with a functional bathroom. There were many layers of blankets so you could customize based on your personal preference. We visited in mid April and the weather was in the 70's and sunny and dry during the day and a bit chilly at night. Each bed had a mosquito net. We didn't see many bugs, maybe an odd mosquito or fly during the entire time we were there, but as the windows don't have screens (typical of all the p!aces at which we stayed), mosquito nets were certainly welcomed, just in case.||||Dinner was ENORMOUS! My family and I are very good eaters and we couldn't finish! Our local driver told us that what we had enjoyed was simple home cooking. This again speaks to the authenticity of the place. There is absolutely nothing pretentious here! You truly get a feel for the 'real' Morocco! ||||The next day, we had arranged a private hike with Said, Omar's brother, to Tislit Gorge. We walked across saffron fields were ladies were working the land. We saw fruit trees with carpets of wildflowers, banks of cacti, and lonely stretches of undulating earth with a goat herd tending his flock. Then suddenly, the black lava columns of the Tislit Gorge appeared. This place is gorgeous!!!! There were palm trees, pools of emerald water, fantastic rock formations, everything I saw in the photos of this place. There were no other people there besides us. The place was quite large, and would take at least 20 minutes to walk across, assuming you don't stop to explore anything, which is unlikely since this is such an unusual and beautiful place. We've travelled all over the world and I have not seen anything like it. Said said he could do overnight camping tours. We would love to return someday so we could spend more time here.||||We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Nothing flashy or luxurious, just really authentic.||||Thanks Aude, Omar, Said and all the ladies who helped take...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed here several times before, but usually just for one night. This time, we decided to spend two nights and explore the Taliouine area properly rather than simply using it as a stopover on the way to Tata — and we’re glad we did.
We always appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and warm hospitality from Omar, Said, and their family. They know the area extremely well and gave us helpful advice about local places to visit. Our room was clean and cosy, with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Meals were generous and home-cooked, and the garden and various seating areas were lovely spots to relax.
From Escale Rando, we visited the ancient mellah at Ighil n’Ogho, the nearby cliff agadir, and Tislit Gorge. Said gave us accurate, up-to-date advice on distances, travel times, and road conditions — which is invaluable in Morocco, where things often change.
We would always recommend staying...
Read moreProvided you work on the basis that you are staying in someone’s home, not a hotel, and are happy with that concept, you would have a wonderful stay. Luxury it is not, but it is clean, comfy, with lashings of hot water, and super quiet. Rustic, quaint, and oozing character, with the Glaoui Kasbah towering beside it. Omar speaks pretty good English and French, and bent over backwards to make our stay memorable. Our Arabic being limited (i.e. confined to about 4 words!) meant that we couldn’t engage with his super smiling sister. We had read that the food was exceptional. We can only add to that description, by saying that after almost 4 weeks, their evening meal was the best we have tasted in Morocco, and we haven’t eaten badly at all! Breakfast didn’t let the side down either. Would certainly be on our “want to...
