We came into Tiznit to get lunch on our way to Taghazout. After lunch, we went to the park that is across from the hotel. On our way back to the car our toddler needed to use the restroom immediately so we asked the hotel if they would let us. The staff here were incredibly kind and the entrance of the hotel is gorgeous. The pool looked refreshing and there were a bunch of kids and families poolside playing. This convinced us to change our plans and stay at the hotel for the night.
The rooms are a different story and definitely do not match the elegance of the lobby. This wouldn't be a big deal normally but our room was absolutely melting hot. We understand that the Aircon is not on when guests aren't in the room so we turned it on and went to the pool to relax. The room never cooled down. We spoke to the front desk twice about it and they sent someone up to the room. There was a language issue between my wife and the tech so we don't know what actually got said when he visited. We kept being told to wait for the room to cool down so we decided to grab dinner. Instead of going and visiting the Medina as was our original plan, we had to go back to the hotel to make sure our room was in fact cooling off. The air from the vent was not coming out cool whatsoever and our room was still boiling hot. Keep in mind that it was not hot that day at all, only 30° for a high. We spoke to the front desk again about it and they said they would send someone else. The day security person came up and also agreed that the air coming from the vent was still hot. We had the air conditioning running for over six hours but we're continued to be told to wait 20 minutes to see if it started to cool down. Eventually they offered us another room And I went there with the security guard and we tried the air conditioning units in those rooms but still nothing. We were told to wait again to see if the aircon would cool off. By this point the shift had changed and a new person was down at the front desk. So I had to re-explain the entire situation to the new person, Soulymane. By this point it was already after midnight and we were extremely tired and frustrated with the whole situation. Still, the staff were doing everything they could to try to help us. They put us in a new room again and had us wait while the new Aircon was still blowing out hot air in the new room. A different mechanic came to check out the units and it was clear that he had been woken up to come handle this. It turns out a fuse had blown somewhere and they were getting it figured out.
Soulaymane worked so hard to help us out and even brought an extra bed for our new room for our toddler since the new room only had a single bed. A little after 1:00 in the morning we were told that everything should be fixed now and that the unit should start blowing cold air soon. It eventually did and I could see the staff up on the roof checking out the Aircon units up there including in our old room. They were doing this at almost 2:00 in the morning.
Because of such a late night, we did not wake up early as we had originally planned to go check out the Medina since we were unable to the previous night. Although the experience was not great for us, the staff was amazing and continued to try to help us the entire time. Youssef at the front desk, and especially Soulaymane at night, really were trying everything to help us get everything worked out. The staff at this hotel is by far the best quality they have. I know a blown fuse isn't necessarily their fault and I know our situation was unique. This is what makes my review a little bit of a challenge because although our experience was not great, the staff really was amazing and did not give up on us. A huge shout out to everyone who helped us including the day security guard, as well as the mechanics who came out in the middle of the night, and anyone else helped get the situation eventually taken care of. Thank you so much to Soulaymane who really came clutch in the middle of the...
Read moreTHE WORST HOTEL ON EARTH. I'm lucky that I travel for a living. And on this trip I've stayed in some of the best hotels on earth until I got to Tiznit where I made the mistake of booking what turned out to be THE WORST HOTEL||ON EARTH. Morocco is filled with inexpensive gems run by family people. This hotel puts Morocco and its hospitality culture to shame This monstrous building is on a non descript roundabout that makes it look charming by comparison. You will not find a more ugly building with such appallingly cheap ugly decoration, made worse by lights that flick on and off as you walk through it's vast empty corridors, if you try. The rooms are ugly, outdated and unappealing unless you are blind. No attention has been paid to creating nice or welcoming spaces. They only have neon lights inside. The shower rod fell on the floor. The pool was advertised as reopening that day but outside was an empty dirty basin. I appeared to be the only guest but a group was in the breakfast room. There was not one thing I could eat with dairy and gluten intolerances. It was all white bread and regular yoghurt. There was no fruit. No protein. A few boiled eggs. Worst of all when a system error at booking left the room unpaid instead of covered through the wallet application, I sent a dozen messages to booking asking them to resolve it. I also made a complaint about the pool closure dates to the hotel because I specifically booked it at double the going rate in Tiznit to swim ahead of a 15 hour car ride but they did not ever address it or apologise for this. The hotel management was threatening and discourteous as I patiently tried to resolve the issue with booking and looped them in - they not only accused me of not paying instead of apologizing for the error but threatened to make the receptionist pay so resorted to emotional blackmail to try to resolve this. Unacceptable behavior from an establishment that unless you like awful design. Sinister lighting. Being alone in an ugly building, bad food and sleeping on an ugly roundabout in a town best avoided will make you regret the choice of booking this. They even claimed you cannot pay here using wallet and thereby trying to make me out to be a liar even though they advertise it. Not a...
