Are you seeking a pristine paradise? Then this is the resort for you. Azura benguerra has to be one of the most picturesque resorts in the world. Located in the Bazaruto archipelago national marine park on the west side of benguerra island sheltered in a bay from the swells of the Indian ocean. It’s a place to recharge away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
ROOM Firstly its not a room, it’s a luxury beachfront villa. Made with traditional materials such as a reed roof that blends in with the local flora of the island. The villa comes with a large bedroom with a super comfy bed that looks out over the bay perfect to view those awesome African sunsets. The bathroom was huge, tastefully decorated with luxury toiletries, bathrobes & outdoor shower along with the indoor one and bathtub with a view of the bay.
Outside you’ll find a terrace with chaise lounge, your very own swimming pool that is shaded by local flora teeming with wildlife from birds to tiny deer it is a place of privacy & serenity.
AREAS At the main lodge you’ll find the lounge area & library where you will find books & games to keep the kids occupied. The bar with its high ceilings & large deck overlooking the bay is the perfect place to watch some of the best sunsets of your life. At the other side of reception the restaurant mainly features al fresco dining.
GASTRONOMY Meals from breakfast to lunch & dinner was an absolutely awesome experience. The quality of the food is near Michelin star standards. -Breakfast; fresh coffee & juice served with pastries as a side coupled with your choice of mains from eggs benedict to waffles. -Lunch & Dinner; you receive the menu shortly before hand this is down to what the local fisherman catch as the lodge buys the best seafood available. I had beautifully delicate crab & grilled fish most days.
ACTIVITIES Azura offers a huge variety of experiences from island hopping to diving & sunset dhoni cruises along with many more, quite a few are included in your stay. My favorite had to be the island hopping experience that included snorkeling & a picnic on a secluded beach.
Wellness is a key part of the resort offering a magical spa area with all the massages that you can imagine to help melt away your troubles.
LOCATION Just off the coast of Vilankulos on the island on benguerra, its a super safe area of the country. It reminded me of the Maldives. You can arrive by flight from South Africa & Maputo before taking a short hop over the bay on...
Read moreAzura hands down deserve a 6 star rating! From the very first moment you get there you are treated like royalty. The staff are so helpful and friendly, you quickly feel at home. THEN the location is just spectacular, you also have the most beautiful private villa with your own pool right in front of the ocean. They use nothing but the best product from the shower to the bar to the kitchen. The food and drinks are out of this world. My husband and I have been to a view large resorts, but have never felt service like this, it's so intimate and private and the resort does so much everyday additionally to make you feel even more special. There are also a wide range of activities available of which diving and fishing were our favorite! I would 100% recommend Azura to anyone, especially couples looking for a very intimate brake. However, the ocean is so calm, the couple next to us brought there 2year old daughter and they were swimming the whole time. Another couple were there for their 14th time celebrating their anniversary- so honestly the stories the guests tells speak for themselves! Peri peri beach club is also so nice! Definitely a must to do there! We loved every day there, thanks Azura and the great...
Read moreCalling Azura Retreat idyllic is an understatement. My wife and I just got back from a trip there and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. From the moment we arrived the entire team was dedicated to making sure we had a great stay.
We had an all-inclusive stay, so meals and standard drinks and many activities were included. We both enjoyed the food immensely especially the fresh seafood (which we don't get much of in Botswana.) We paid extra to dive and for some spa treatments, but the price was fair.
We had some scheduling difficulties during our stay, but they were resolved to our satisfaction which just reinforced their commitment to guest satisfaction.
If you are a diver, you won't be disappointed by the aquatic life off of Tuma Reef. Josh and Rhys were excellent guides.
And the final night seafood barbecue on the beach in front of our villa was the piece de resistance. Hassane really outdid himself.
Throughout GM Brian was checking in with us to make sure that we were enjoying ourselves and being properly looked after.
I can't...
