The hotel has nice, clean rooms with A/C facing the beach, which is amazing. The size and cleanliness of the rooms gets an A for sure- likewise, the restaurant has delicious food and is open fairly late! The only reason it gets 3 stars instead of 4 is because the rooms FLOOD during rainy season. Literally, every day I'd wake up at dawn to 6 inches of water and enduring the wet feet throughout the night actually led me to catch the flu! :( This continued for 3 or 4 days and the staff was not even apologetic nor did they offer a refund or discount. I'm not sure if they fixed it (they seem to have installed some kind of door cylinder) or if the rains just abated- the point is their lack of apology or recourse was a low standard of customer service. If you go outside of rainy season, should be fine. Very decent price compared to everywhere...

Just outside the city, but very close to it, Kauri Resort is an inexpensive alternative to the fancier hotels and resorts in Pemba. The conditions however are very good, the decoration is sober, all rooms have AC and hot water and you can just wake up and head straight to the beach were you will find local fishermen rummaging the beach if the tide is low. The resorts has free breakfast buffet for all guests, served from 7am to 10am. There is also a restaurant with local/Portuguese, Indian and Chinese cuisines with good prices. The management is a bit quirky (they asked for the money in advance but weren't able to provide a receipt until the next day) but the staff is nice...

I stayed in this hotel in July. The hotel is nice but could do with a little bit of refreshing ( rooms, towell, bedsheets...) to bring it back to the 4* level. || The beach is beautiful but could do with a little bit of cleaning to remove seaweed daily. ||The breakfast is a bit disappointing being in such a beautiful place, once would expect to have fresh juice, fruits, and not a melted butter( easy trick put it in the fridge and service it cold) The staff is super friendly but some of them haven’t been trained properly so could not provide advised on what to do in the area. Although Steven went out of his way to put me in contact with locals that could...

Great service. The staff is very professional and friendly. You wouldn't expect to find such quality service in a remote place like this, however, the lady serving my table used all the techniques you would find in the best restaurants in Lisbon, Paris or London. I had grouper, overall we had 4 different dishes in my table and everyone was really pleased with the quality and presentation. Thank you so much to Mr Babu (the owner) who came to our table and stayed with us for a long chat. Amazing, I will recommend Kauri as the number one and must place to stay and visit in Pemba.

A nice beach resort to stay in Pemba. You can have a lovely oceanic view along with enjoying your evening with tides at your doorsteps. The resort has a private beach so you will not find much crowd here, which is sometimes nice but sometimes not good at all. They offer rooms which are beach facing & some rooms are just next to the beach. Room are although good but not so good as per their tariff. Their services are good. The quality of food is not so good. In all in all, this resort can be a nice option if you to enjoy peacefully at some lonely place having privacy.

We had an amazing night there. The beachfront cabins were very comfortable and the service is great. Our evening meal was very nice. The only thing I wasn't thrilled with was the breakfast the following morning. The choice wasn't great and the pastries disappointed However, if staying in Pemba this is definitely a great place to stay, very reasonably priced as well.
