Allow me to add my voice to the chorus of praise for Khema Rattha. I stayed only two nights here, but as one other reviewer put it, they make you feel more like a friend than a paying customer. The very kind hotel manager picked me up at the airport and shuttled me to various places and sights around Kyaing Tong. He's a fairly quiet guy but once you get to know him a little, you realize what a wealth of interesting facts about the area and its history that he possesses. He even showed me the small snack food packaging business that he operates next door to the hotel, which I found surprisingly interesting. And yes, the hotel staff will not be teaching English at Oxford any time soon, but they are wonderful...helpful, friendly, polite, and once you get to know them, very funny! I had a hoot learning some Burmese from them. My room was large and spotlessly clean and as somebody mentioned, there was a big bathtub that I put to good use both nights I stayed there. Good value, too. Also - the hotel is not far from the station where the minibuses that go to and from Tachileik operate from.|| ||Note that it can get a little chilly in Kyaing Tong at night, so you may want to request an additional blanket, as I did.|| ||Don't let the distance from central Kyaing Tong dissuade you - this is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it. And a sincere je zu tin ba de to the manager and his staff if they are...
Read moreI booked for 4 nights at the hotel. The room was big and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel had their own generator for power when the city electricity stopped. The place was 10-15mins drive to the city centre but the owner brought me almost everywhere when he's free as his driver left and he's looking for a new one. He provided shuttle service to the city from the hotel for all my meals. I only have my trekking guide from the 2nd day onwards and he brought me around some city sights, to a local village and the hot spring at no cost on my 1st day. I missed my flight on my last day due to a change of my flight timing and at no fault of the owner but the owner helped me to settle my flight issues, accommodation and even brought me to a mountain area for sight seeing to compensate for my distress. He also ensure that I get into the airport safely before he left. I was treated like a valued friend throughout my stay more than a customer. I highly recommend the place and would stay there again if I go to Kyaing Tong...
Read moreI lead photo tour groups worldwide. Our latest tour to Myanmar included the Khema Ratta and was the most disappointing lodging in all our stay. ||||The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, but English was very rudimentary. The rooms smelled strongly of camphor when we entered. We wondered why, and as we prepared for bed we understood. There was a huge cricket under our pillow, as well as a huge water bug in the bathroom. The room is very dimly lit. ||||The beds were all very basic and uncomfortable. The room had little area to move. The bathroom was tiny with a broken sink and a tub with no shower curtain and a hand shower only. The soap, as one of my clients said, was the size of a Chicklet. ||||The breakfast was nothing short of terrible. We will not stay here on...
