Kan Thar Yar Hotel — Hotel in Loikaw District

This hotel has beautiful views out of the lake, good sized modern rooms, reliable hot water and a solid all you can eat breakfast buffet. We stayed here three nights. They are mixed with the cleanliness. When we first arrived, the bedrooms and linens were clean, but they didn't empty the trash in the bathroom and left a soap wrapper from previous occupants in the shower. They didn't make our beds, change the towels, or restock the toilet paper on any of the days of stay. They were friendly and immediately took care of things when we asked but they didn't have an "oh sorry for the oversight" kind of response. This is a fairly new basic hotel right next to the lake with the same name (Kan thar ya means beautiful lake). I paid 14,000kyat for a very spacious double room on the ground floor with fan and private bathroom (only cold water) and a balcony with view on the lake. They also have more upscale rooms I believe. No breakfast included, wifi only works in the reception area. |A night market with plenty food options is right next door and Veranda Youth Community Café is a pleasant 10min walk for breakfast opening at 9 am. |The whole Kan Thar Ya area is very nice to hang out after a busy day visiting the caves around Hpa-An or just to chill a few days away from the main buzz...

I stayed for 2 nights there not expecting too much as Loikaw is a bit off the beaten track. To my surprise everyone of the Kan Thar Yar made my stay as perfect as it could be. They organized a very professional guide for me to do a full day track in the surrounding villages (Martino: khunaungpey@gmail.com, 09-440887029). He spoke very good English and the trip was just awesome.
