Read moreWe appreciated the beautiful sunrise views here but the room was unfortunately dark, very cold, and the hotel was full of inconsiderate guests talking, smoking, and doing some strange, loud 30 min throat clearing ritual at 4 am every morning. Our room was in the main house and guests were walking around, smoking and talking at 4 am - I had to stumble out in my pajamas and ask the very young staff to please try to keep the noise down. Fortunately there were some extremely heavy blankets for the beds - think x-ray blanket heavy! - and they kept us warm along with the multiple layers of clothing we wore to bed. The room was so dark it was colder inside than it was outside once the sun rose (according to our alarm clock which had a thermometer). Shower was very hot and water pressure was good, but large holes in the bathroom walls made us wonder if we would see any creatures scurry by - fortunately we didn't. Food in the restaurant was good. Breakfast was plentiful with eggs and freshly made pancakes. Staff will keep doors of restaurant open in the morning and evening even though it is very cold...

Receptionist explained that a student group had booked all bungalow accommodation but they were able to offer me a room in the main reception building for 45000kyat.||The staff were friendly but they were quite young and inexperienced. When asked about trekking options and trails in the local area (the main attraction of Kanpetlet), I was told there was no information available and no local guides were known :( ||The next morning, all the hot water was gone as the other guests had showered early and left at 5:30am. Walls were paper thin so you can hear every movement in the next room but may not be an issue if you stay in the bungalows. ||For such a unique location, I have to say these other factors left me feeling slightly disappointed...
