We stayed in this resort on 25 November 2019 in a Deluxe Room (203) with garden view. The room is looking ok, is clean and has a good airconditioning. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower and one sinc. When we used the sinc, our feet got wet… the water is drained probably in an open system under the sinc, very strange and anoying. The matrass on the bed is worn out and way too hard, the pillows too large in volume. We didn’t sleep well.||We had dinner in the restaurant. The staff is friendly but strange in communication. We ordered spring rolls, spaghetti and tiger prawns. After 10 min the staff came back to inform us that spring rolls were not available. We ordered a glass of red wine. After waiting for 15 min (dinner was finnished already) we asked again for the wine, but then they came back to inform us that wine can only be ordered by the bottle. The food was good though, although small portions. We ordered french fries since we were still hungry.||The breakfast buffet looks large but offers not much. There is a lot of people having lunch but not enough staff. The atmosphere is a bit anonimous and everybody seems in a hurry.||The pool is nice (but be carefull : there are two walls under the water level where you easily bump into). There was no staff, there are towels. The spa is simple, we had a massage (35$ for 1 hour, not very professional).||When you check out and pay with creditcard, they charge 3% costs.||Overall not a convincing place to stay, compared with lots of other places around the country, not...
Read moreWas on a private visit to Monywa and booked the supposedly best hotel/resort in town foe 1 night. Unfortunately it ended in disappointment.||The moment I checked in late afternoon there was a busload of foreign tourists, The lobby was overcrowded, hotel staff was nervous and overloaded, finally after 15 minutes waiting I was able to check in. Unfortunately it took them another 5 minutes to find my online reservation.||They gave me the key to room 116 and one staff member took me on his motorbike to a separate building on that large hotel compound. It looked as though it was a staff accommodation building and probably it was. There was no lift, just a narrow steep staircase, and the room was on the 4th floor. The room was clean though sparsely furnished with no wardrobe or safe deposit box. ||Unfortunately there is no bar. I had to have a drink sitting a dining table with package tour tourist having dinner. Though service staff was friendly and helpful. ||Breakfast was likewise basic, the seating arrangement in the breakfast hall was designed for larger groups of guests only with no sitting arrangement for smaller parties. ||As a summary, the hotel leaves a lot...
Read moreSpent, just one night at this mid range hotel so it’s hard to give a definitive assessment although overall not too bad especially if you upgrade to one of the bungalows overlooking the lake. ||Good points . |a)Friendly staff . |b) Reasonably good food in “The Dining Hall” and good service.|c) plenty of hot water |d) a nice swimming pool that’s if your tour guide allows you time from relentless but interesting temple visits and sun sets (which incidentally is rather good over the lake) ||Not so good points. ||a)Many Mosquitoes. ( ask for coils )|b)Loud noice and 24 hour, megaphone chanting from nearby temple and competing rock music during festival times . ( unavoidable I’m afraid )||So expect sleepless nights during this period unless you suffer from hearing loss. And by the way, on a very practical point, somewhere to hang towels and bathrobes might be helpful.||Still it’s all part of the Myanmar experience which is wonderful and enriching in so many many ways . Accommodation is what it is ( especially outside Yangon) and this, alongside the Buddhist way, makes one realise how spoilt one may have...
