Hotel Yadarnabon||Intolerable unpleasantness. Avoid the grief and risk. ||The Hotel manager tried. In acknowledgement of the difficulties at the Yadarnabon she offered a free room upgrade, free beer & free use of electric bikes. She’s also part of the problem. Broken promises. Free beer & free electric bikes use was soon reduced to a single beer, and four hours free electric bike use. Pure miserable. Fours escape from hell on an electric bike, unfortunately we had all its unpleasantness for three days. I would have checked out but having paid upfront – the manager refused to refund – contrary to the booking site policy.||Nothing offered was ever going to remove the shock and disappointment of checking into what is an effectual construction site. Screeching noise from an angle grinder right below my room – everyday. It made no difference (as the manager advised) whether the window was open or closed. ||Escape to the quiet of the pool I thought. The pool is however immediately beside a very active and very large construction site. It has all the sound effects too - earth movers, cement mixers, hammering & constant dust. 6.00am it started and was still going at 8.30pm. Dawn to dusk and beyond. Add to that the nauseating smell from open uncapped sewage pipes that run along the back of dirty, broken & dangerous sunbeds. It’s a great place for flies, and they’ll help you drink your single free beer. ||See below...
Read moreThe hotel is so-so. Interior looks old specially the toilet. Wifi is inclusive but 1 password is to 1 gadget. Sochets are limited. Free use of swimming pool from 8AM to 9PM. Breakfast is okay (except their version of brewed coffee). There's a free water bottled water, instant coffee, water heater and cups in the room. Toiletries were also provided.
Cons: Aircon is loud. Bus and bus drivers can be heard inside the room. Our room is in ground floor and near the main entrance of the hotel. So you can hear all including staff cleaning other rooms bus drivers talking and etc.. Towels looks old (not so white) although they provide separate towel for pool. Toilet needs to undergo major cleaning.
While staff can speak English. It doesn't sound they are all friendly. There was one who was really not helpful and intonation was odd.
No welcome drink was offered us. However, we noted that a welcome drink (orange juice) were given to guests...

Had room 301, and it had a great view of the front yard and sunset. There aren't any lifts in this compound, but there are ground units available.
Took the overnight bus from yangon to bagan and arrived at the hotel at 5am in the morning. Counter staff gave us the option to check in earlier for 10usd (or 14k kyat), or wait till 12pm for the next check in.
The hotel rents out eBikes, and we easily got all the way to Nyaung-U and back again (plus detours to 6 different pagodas in Old Bagan district and getting lost a few times) on a full 8h rental.
Don't miss the puppet shows...
