Beautiful resort with excellent service on the beach. We stayed here for 3 nights and here is a breakdown of my experience.
Booking: we contacted the hotel via their fb page. They were responsive, informative and very professional. We were able to book the hotel with ease.
Checking in and out: The process was very efficient. We were in a buggy headed to our room within 15 mins of our arrival. Checking out process was equally efficient. The checking in and out counters were at separate ends of the lobby, l which further increases the efficiency (in my opinion).
Rooms: The rooms were huge. We got a loft room and a deluxe garden view rooms. Both the rooms came with very soft beddings, soft pillows, fluffy towels and complete amneties.
House keeping: They are very attentive. The rooms were magically clean, amneties replenished, and well organized everyday when we came back from bfast.
Pool: large pool, very crowded throughout the day. There was ample supply of fresh new towels and many lounges to sun bathe on.
Food and drinks: The breakfast buffet had a decent spread of western as well as local food. The coffee was good, bread was good, croissants could have been better, and ample supply of fresh fruits. There is a lot of cocktails, wines, and other drinks to select from the bar menu.
Beach: The property is located on a private and clean part of the beach. They offer many different water sports including surf lessons, which gets filled pretty fast.
The hotel also has another restaurant called surfpoint restaurant and bar, which is an excellent place to chill in the evening. You can either walk or take a buggy ride to the resataurant, which has the same menu as the main one, but has lot more entertainement. There is snooker table, fooseball, sandpit, etc. Definitely recommend this place. However, if you are looking ro be somewhere quiet, this may not be the one ( or maybe) since it ia popular with both the expats...
Read moreWe spent a family holiday at the Ngwe Saung Yacht Club Resort for 3 nights this April.
Despite the Hype, NSYC turned out to be a lackluster. It seems the resort tried too much of everything but failed to deliver in each category.
The only perks were the expansive infinity pool and the impressive garden decorations.
Service was significantly inferior compared to its competitors like Aureum Palace and Bay of Bengal. The staff barely smiled at guests and would not respond whenever we attempted to greet them a "hello" or "good morning."
Breakfast was repetitive. Food was subpar. Even Myanmar cuisine lacked seasoning. I could not tolerate the Western dishes at all due to lack of flavour. The only saving grace was the Omelette station.
Plenty of mosquitoes in the bedroom. Though I understand that insects may be outside the hotel's control, it also highlights the importance of regularly draining and replacing the stagnant water from ponds in the Garden. The pond water appears soiled and lets off a foul odour. Judging from the swarms of mosquitoes above the surface, it's obvious that the water is harbouring mosquito eggs and larvae.
I was utterly disappointed to discover that the staff at the Day Spa offered a "Happy Ending Service." For a place that advertised itself to be grand and luxurious, one would expect its staff to act accordingly. Even after I refused this Service at the spa, the therapist continued to insist. I understand that times are difficult and people want extra money but offering this service at a facility like NSYC is incomprehensible. I will never visit this spa again in any location.
Overall, NSYC is only a shell of its former glory. Staff needs re-training. The pond water needs replacing to remove the swarms of mosquitoes. Food needs innovation. The price needs to be adjusted to reflect what the hotel actually offers compared to what's advertised. I hope the hotel tries to improve base on...
Read moreA few minutes after we arrived at the resort, my wife, son, and I immediately ran to the beach, since we sorely missed the sand and waves (this included the excited jumping up-and-down at the shore, with matching hurrahs and yays). Sadly, my wife dropped her fone who-knows-where in the sand. So, we asked about for help from the resort lifeguards and security people. Everyone scoured the nearby shore, and some (including me) dove in the sea to look for the fone. Alas! After a few minutes of fruitless hopeless searching, we checked-in to our room lost and depressed at the start of our vacation (which was also a celebration for my son and his 3rd birthday). Inside our room, trying to regain ground, feeding my starving son his lunch, the front desk suddenly called, happily saying one of the lifeguards found our fone stuck in the sand! Wow! The lifeguards told us that just a few days before, some guests also lost their fones to the sea, so we were definitely lucky!
Needless to say, after this unforgettable event, we had a blast, especially my son, since it was his first time bodyboarding with me (the resort offers surf and bodyboard rentals with lessons, unlike other resorts in the area, which was a plus! And Ngwe Saung has good waves!)
Food is also delicious (especially their seafood grill), service is super-friendly and superb!
And even if it was the start of the Water Festival here in Myanmar, and the place was packed with families, we did not feel crowded, and there was so much space!
The resort also has the new and beautiful Surf Point Restaurant and Bar at the north end of the area that offers refreshing drinks and an amazing view of the famous Ngwe Saung sunset (that was a cool respite for my wife and I, and even a sand pit for the kids!)
Thanks again to Ngwe Saung Yacht Club for the wonderful stay! Here’s to the next beach vacation plan in...
