A small complex of about 20 bungalows that are fairly new, yet my bathroom looked so aged. The rooms are huge, but not well maintained. Stains on furniture, dust on vanity unit, chips in the bath enamel, air con that only did one temperature which was freezing no matter what temperature it displayed. The internet is so, so, so slow. The TV reception diabolical. The bed was really comfy but the bed linen ropey and the pillows just disgusting. And the noise!!!!!! Not from within the compound of the hotel, but it is on the main road between Mandalay and China and all night heavy lorries are rumbling by with noises engines and if they aren't the local neighbours are revving their Chinese Buffalo engines. Then at about 4am drumming starts for ages. Once that finishes the cockerel starts. The phone in my room was absolutely filthy. I had to disinfect it and clean it before I could call reception.||Great breakfast and lovely friendly and...

Read morePlenty of room to stretch out in these ballroom-side hotel rooms! Our room was enormous with a huge bedroom/living space, massive dressing room, separate shower cubicle and a generous vanity basin area.||Individual terraces in front of the room were pleasant for an early morning coffee and closeby in the grounds was a bamboo oasis which would have been pleasant for a late afternoon relax, had we stayed longer.||Although on the main road, noise at night was minimal with the gentle background hum of the air conditioning unit.||The facilities were comfortable however on the hospitality side of things, the staff didn't know how to deal with us as you would expect. Perhaps it was due to language issues plus it was the beginning of the "tourIst season" in October and maybe the staff was still undergoing training. Bar and restaurant on site - convenient but few diners on the...
