Nice local hotel on Inle lake, run by the PaO people, a less privileged minority, so the money you spend, will not end up in governemental or foreign investors pockets, but will support the local community. Over the years I stayed there twice. Spectaculair views over the lake and stunning sunsets, especially from the cabins in the west wing. Hospitality is great as is the welcome song on arrival. The hotel offers a local atmosphere and the setting is idilic and peacefull. The restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner is limited but good. It may be noisy in the early morning, since the hotel is on the lake and the longboats that travel to the markets may wake you up. They supply ear plugs, but we just got up and enjoyed life on the lake. The location of the hotel is a perfect starting point for visiting the highlights of the lake. Do yourself and the PaO people a favor and stay in that hotel. You will not regret the stay, but charish the...

Spectacular 360 degree view here. You don't need a boat trip to see the sunset or sunrise. Beautiful stilt houses with balcony that you can enjoy the sunset or sunrise (depending your room location) from your room.

Super friendly and helpful staffs. You can ask them for a lot of trip advise and can arranged tour for you. The hotel manager even guided me on a tour to Kakku Pagodas. Best service ever!

However, for a hotel in this price range, I believe having a stable hot water is fundamental and this hotel still needs to improve. Also there is some gecko poop on the edges of the wall which can easily been seen.

Overall it is a great hotel ON the lake. Highly...

Golden Island Cottages (GIC - 1) located in Nampan is the very first hotel in Inle Lake which is owned by Paoh ethnic group meaning that most of their profits go to the development sectors for Paoh people impacting postively in the community. If you're looking for a nice view, quiet, culturally historic place, you'll enjoy it. They also have GIC - 2 located in Thale U where you can do 'bird watch'...

I enjoyed my stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. The hotel is more isolated than I had realized, but we were able to hire a boat for transport and tours prior to check in. My only complaint was that the shower temperature is very inconsistent, but wasn't a big deal. The overall experience was great.
