Inle Garden Hotel — Hotel in Taunggyi District

This place is located in the best spot (in my opinion) on the southern end of the hotel zone on the eastern bank of Inle Lake. This and Thazin Garden in Bagan are operated by the same owner and as such it is a real family business and the fruit and labor love. Same as Thazin Garden, the architecture and planning respect the natural environment and takes sustainability into consideration. We stayed for the New Year celebration and enjoyed poolside barbecue with fireworks (and a bonfire because it was chilly). The grounds are amazing, and we can't wait to come back when the landscape has fully matured (I can just see the potential). Bungalows/chalets are very spacious, private, laid out very thoughtfully and due to its relative newness, design features are a notch up from Thazin Garden in Bagan. Breakfasts were superb with local Shan specialties, and drinks in the afternoon overlooking Inle Lake with an amazing sunset view. The staff is lovely, ever so accommodating, and again you can make arrangements for private boat tours around Inle lake and to Indein Village, trips to the wineries (our favorite was Aye Tharyar) etc. - all you have to do is ask. Again, family owned/operated and not a big franchise corporation, so definitely important to support a local business setting an example of doing a great job. We will definitely stay...

Lack of English and taste in all hotel design&decor.||||The wardrobe was broken. They just fixed it but we couldn't use (see the picture). They didn't do anything and left as that.||||They don't clean the glass windows so the nice views to the lake (the only good aspect) are spoiled.||||We saw towels in the swimming pool from the night before...||||Very bad service. The staff are just looking at you or in a sofa checking the mobile phone.||||The breakfast is the worst part. Only served: cornflakes, milk, dry cakes and just type of bread (slice one with sugar) from the day before, bacon, mini sausages and tasteless crepes. This ridiculous mini buffet in a huge room...||The 1st breakfast they displayed shots of yogurt but not the 2nd day. We asked for it, after 5min trying them yo understand the word "yogurt", they just had 3 shots (which is the same as 1/3 glass, not enough even for 1 Perdin) and this happened at 6am! Not constancy at all.||||Our table was dirty with ants, so we guessed it was from the day before. The staff were in groups laughing and having fun without paying any attention.||||We found crickets and cockroaches. They gave us anti mosquitoes to spray the room... Regret to say the main building is cold , sterile and empty . It does not reflect the character charm re its surroundings .
