Frankly speaking, although I understand it's not affordable to all, our stay at the Novotel Inle Lake Hotel was one of our success moments of our trip for several reasons: nearby town, Nyaung Shwe, has NOTHING to do or see when compared to the rest of the country, but is recommended for travel information and lunch/dinner options if you want other options besides the hotel. So if you can avoid staying there, please do. Lake hotels, whether inside the Lake or nearby, bring you a perfect experience of sightseeing and peace AND perfect sunsets! You don't see trickshaws or cars or hear honking all the time.... Inle Lake staff is friendly (although a greater effort is needed to have them speak better English - this is a problem everywhere in Myanmar though), rooms are very comfortable and clean, food is good, the pool is a blessing to rest and sun tan in a hectic traveling schedule, and the Novotel has probably the BEST SPOT FOR SUNSET on the Lake (and I can prove it!).

Seriously, consider staying outside of town to really experience what the Lake can...

Beautiful property, but..

The property and rooms are very modern, large, and clean, just as the photos show. The lobby, the walkways, the restaurants are all quite stunning.

However, though you are in East Asia and paying a modest $100+ per night for a jr. Suite, they are charging about 10 x the price of a reputable local restaurant on food costs. We were beyond shocked to see starters like spring rolls which sell between $1.00 and $2.50 locally, go for $10 on the room service menu. They add about a 100% markup on tours from our experience as well for the same people you can hire from a local agency literally across the street.

Additionally they closed off the nicer restaurant overlooking the lake for a private event which I found very unfair to hotel guests.

Overall, location is great, the price per room per night seems fair, but the menu is priced as though you are in Switzerland when you are in a 3rd world country. If you stay here, plan on booking your tours ahead and scope out local...

Living the experience in Inle lake is essential to understand Myanmar a little more.|We stayed at the Novotel, in a suite on stilts overlooking the lake. Arriving from the tours was like arriving at our little oasis full of comfort, good taste in decoration, shower to refresh ourselves. Sleep in a super hyper cozy bed, with a duvet that hugs you.|All these details are close to what the hotel offers us, a delightful pool area full of attention, a Spa with subtle and perfect decoration and with sweet people and wonderful hands for an unforgettable massage.|The restaurant is great, from breakfast to dinner. And I want to express my gratitude to the entire team that served us so well. Unfortunately I don't remember the names of the people but there is no exception.|And to all the hotel staff who made our stay unforgettable. Rest assured that you will be remembered forever.|My advice? Novotel this team deserves all the praise. Thank you and a big, big hug.|Norma and Marcelo ( the...

Very nice, new and clean Hotel/Ressort. We had the junior suite and were totally happy :) Nice view on the lake from the poolside. They had different specials like Cocktail happy hour or spa sales. Breakfast was the best we had in Myanmar. Restaurant situation for dinner outside the hotel is difficult as in the closer area there is not really much going on. Unfortunately there was no chance to rent a motorbike at or around the hotel to get easily to the next village. If you wanted to you had to use the shuttle service given from the hotel which is a bit overpriced. Besides this if youd like to save some money, check out the prices for the tours they offer in the hotel and in Nyaung Shwe at local guides. We saved 50% and the guys from the village will also happily pick you up at the hotels docks :) Besides that 1-2 points I would still recommend this hotel :) Especially for relaxing this "isolated" area could fit your interests even better.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was pure bliss. The rooms were amazingly beautiful and large. At night time when I was ready to sleep it was so quiet and the bed was super comfy. Being able to look across the lake was breathtaking. The resort itself is huge with lotus flowers and water surrounding the villas. The pool area was a great size to chill out at and the pool was fantastic. The food and drinks we had around the pool was just what was needed when relaxing. The food at the restaurant was yummy and the breakfast had a good selection of food on offer that was delicious. The gym was great and had everything needed for a good solid workout. I had a deep tissue oil massage at the SPA and it was so relaxing and therapeutic. To top it off the staff were totally amazing and so accommodating, friendly and helpful. I Will definitely be going back to Inle Lake again πŸ™ #LetsGuide #myanmar #novotel #luxuryresort #spa
