Looking at a few others feed back on this place I wished I had read reviews on here first !!! the trip advisor and others appear to be false as I had an appalling stay here !!
Sorry this is not a four star hotel ...have had so many issues with the Merciel Ngapali Beach..
I think it’s appauling how Agoda can advertise this hotel as a four star and yet I can have so many problems. It’s left a sour taste on what was supposed to be a relaxed holiday.
Mini bar : the mini bar is not stocked daily and then when you ask for it to be stocked they try to get you to sign room service bills!!! slapping on extra service charges for simple cold beverages... Ie: they get an extra charge if you order on the phone. So why stock the mini bar ??
Frogs and mosquitoes in the room on day one the mosquitoes. It was a frogs and mosquito bites daily till check out. The rooms are filthy and not cleaned properly. I also had mouse / lizard droppings on the hotel dressing room table missed by the maid every day till checkout.
Faulty lock on my room mentioned on day one I’ve just been left to deal with it . Sometimes the key doesn’t work and gets stuck in the lock leaving me to constantly go to reception for them to retrieve the key from the busted lock barrel.
Electric bike hire charges - I fancied exploring so took an old Chinese electric motorbike out ... not checking if it had indicators I found out to my peril when they failed on road. On taking it back they wanted 3 times the amount than if you want a more modern version hired from outside.
A really awful breakfast ... they had bacon , sausages , beans and hash browns all sitting in a warming dish without any heat ? Ie: cold !! The bacon was actually green !! And when I investigated I found that there was no paraffin underneath the chafing dishes ?? When I asked they said “ oh no run out “ and took the hideous looking plate of food to a microwave and brought it back. Unfortunately I had to decline from that and I now question every other raw and cooked meat handling here.
The staff truly do not communicate well in English on the most basic of levels. You have to repeat everything three times and although you expect a certain level here is below average. Having had fluent conversations with street kids in Yangon.
Slow WiFi and WiFi outages especially at night.
Unfortunately the lack of hospitality and true service issues have ruined my stay here and I won’t be recommending it to anyone... there’s simply better hotels.
The price doesn’t reflect this property either as found out today the price i paid booked via Agoda was literally a matter of a few pounds less than if I had booked the Hilton Ngapali...
Read moreWhat an amazing resort. The staff are absolutely lovely, extremely helpful and overall amazing. They always say hello, always have a smile on their faces and really made our experience here one to remember. My daughter had her birthday here which we didn’t tell them about however they saw when we were registering that she would have her birthday during our stay and waited for us to be at the pool for the housekeeping to decorate our room. They blew up balloons and had flowers on her bed as well as giving us a cake and candles to help celebrate! Such a kind and thoughtful thing to do and really made her day that extra bit special.||Not only are the staff amazing but so are the rooms, we had a beachfront room which was really nice to have to watch the sunrise and sunset, these memories are ones we will keep with us forever. They were very clean and had a TV, snacks, water and aircon. Every night the staff bring by a little treat which was a delight to receive. We got given cookies, cheesecake and creme caramel. Yum! ||Breakfast buffet is good, a good selection of food and coffee was great, we all ended up having three cups each each morning! ||Pool is fantastic, nice and cooling while giving you a incredible view of the sea. We spent our days on the comfortable lounges reading, eating and listing to the sound of the waves. They also have a bar which is great to sit at and watch the sunset. ||We really loved this resort as well due to how quiet it was, it is a bit out of the way from restaurants and massage places however worth the $5 aud drive to as we got our peace and quiet while at the resort. ||Really looking forward to coming back and staying with...
Read moreJust after the porters quickly grabbed our bags, handed us a cool cloth, gave us a refreshing glass of coconut water, I stood up and walked through the lobby to look at the hotel’s beach. || When I saw the shining Bay of Bengal, the pristine swimming pool and the palm trees at the waters’s edge, I swear — after a few moments — I felt like I’d lost 10 lbs. of stress, worries and travel weariness. || The Merciel Resort is a couple of miles past the bigger towns and more crowded tourist areas but for us, that was perfect. We needed quiet.||I definitely recommend upgrading to a beachfront bungalow. The room was awesome. It had a porch where each evening we sat, waiting for the gorgeous sunsets. First thing, every morning, we opened the curtains to a beautiful beach view. The food was great. We ate all our meals there. When we wanted to check out more of the island, the staff would call us a tuk-tuk, and we could go anywhere we wanted. One driver even added a short trip to a local fishing village, so we could see how the residents lived and worked.|| The staff did nothing but smile and give us great service. ||(Footnote: this is NOT a place for late night partiers. And, while we were there a bit of construction was going on to fix some of the bungalows that were damaged by storm surf.) This Ngapali Beach resort revived us...like a real vacation...
