High Five Hotel — Hotel in Yangon

This hotel is a fine option for an overnight stay near the airport. Our room was on the 5th floor and note that there is no elevator. However, the liftboy took up our baggage after we arrived. Both room and bathroom was clean, also quite modern looking. There are some English channels on TV. Staff is very attentive and the manager (or I suppose it was a manager?) could speak good English (the other members of staff didn't always seem to fully understand us, but is a common problem in whole Myanmar. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was quite tasty and prices were reasonable. We were not impressed by the smell when we opened the fridge, so we didn't even dare to use minibar. We read on TripAdvisor before that when you order that you want English breakfast at check in, you can have one instead of the Asian style breakfast (since it was our last day staying in Myanmar, we hoped for something European....). The manager told us we indeed could have it, and that it includes cheese omelette, bacon, hash brown and beans. The unpleasant surprise came in the morning, when we were served fried eggs (no cheese omelette at all, and they were even too dry), NO bacon (well, it is the most important thing about English breakfast, isn't it?), rather cold hash brown and some beans in tomato sauce that were ok. We complained we were told to have bacon, but we only heard "sorry" and that was all. So the only 3-ingredient-English breakfast really didn't have much in common with English...

Room was clean and secure. Hot water/shower available you just need to remember to turn the water heater on 10-15 mins before you need it. ||Smell of smoking in the room (despite no smoking signs everywhere) but cleared when we opened the window. ||Beware that there are no lifts to the upper floors but staff are more than willing (and able) to carry your luggage to/from your room.||Ate in the restaurant (next to reception) and food acceptable and reasonably priced.||Hotel organised early morning taxi to airport (5000kyat) and packed us a take away breakfast (water, sandwich, hard boiled egg, cake) which we ate at the airport as we left before breakfast time.||Staff very good and happy to recommend if you are looking for a convenient hotel near to...

This hotel suits our needs very well. The cleanliness, good shower, good wifi, superb breakfast (including a box lunch for early departures), location, and other amenities are present. What sets in a high rating for us is the sincere dedication of the staff. On one of our stays, they arranged our transport away from Yangon and, on our return late in the evening a week later, a different shift handed us our transportation arrangements for the following morning, including bus tickets and an arranged taxi at a fixed price.
