During our recent family holiday, we had the absolute pleasure of staying at Die Skuur, a truly special place that feels like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, her husband, and their daughter—all absolute gems who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.
The hospitality was outstanding; their kindness and genuine care made us feel like cherished guests rather than visitors. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the incredible meals prepared by the owner herself. Her talent in the kitchen is nothing short of extraordinary—she whipped up a top-class dinner in mere minutes that tasted like it had been crafted by a professional chef. Each bite was a delicious reminder of how special this place is.
Die Skuur is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience filled with warmth, love, and exceptional care. We left with full hearts, happy stomachs, and wonderful memories. We can’t recommend this gem enough and hope to return soon!

Read moreNamibia can be a very harsh and unforgiving country, and that creates a very special and unique kind of people that live and work/survive here. The Namibian people are extremely hospitable, creative, original and yet practical and hard working. Elzeth, Kokkie, Tjoeks, and their team are prime examples of this. A visit to Namibia would not be complete without staying at this wonderfully original establishment, but be warned: it can be very addictive and you will feel the need to return. My only advice is to add a couple of days extra to your booking right from the start to avoid unnecessary disappointment. Also, make sure to take advantage of the home cooked meals on offer. It is 5 star quality. To the team at Die Skuur: I...
Read moreThe reception closes at 6 p.m. with no exceptions. If you don’t arrive by 6 p.m., you have to pay an extra 250 NAD, and even though they have a card machine, this fee is cash only. We paid 660 NAD for two people per night, so the late check-in fee is almost 40% of the accommodation cost. Wow! That’s outrageous! If it had been clearly stated anywhere that the late check-in fee would be about 40% of the nightly rate, we would have chosen a different campsite.
Since we arrived around 7 p.m., there was no warm welcome at all. Only the young woman, who is the daughter, was kind. Even after paying the late check-in fee, we still had to listen to complaints and felt very unwelcome. The male owner’s facial expression clearly showed his displeasure.
It’s a real pity, because the campsite facilities themselves...
