The campsite and garden itself are beautiful, and the check-in process initially went smoothly. We specifically asked which camping spot we should use and were told to simply choose any free space. All our personal details and car license plate were recorded during check-in.
So we set up camp on a free spot. About an hour later, a woman I didn’t know approached our car and, in a sharp tone, asked who I was and what I was doing there. I was in our rooftop tent and explained that we had a valid reservation and were told to pick any free space.
She seemed dissatisfied with that response and questioned me again as if I was trespassing. Apparently, she was the hotel manager. I climbed down to show her my reservation, after which she asked if I had booked “at the last minute.” In fact, I had booked more than three months in advance. Many people walked on the field next to the campsite to get home. When it quited down the fieldworkers started work so it was louder that we were used to. It has to be said that is probably not the usual and the place is still...
