After having spent 3 nights at Zannier Omaanda we finally got to new our second (and definitely not last!) Zannier property.|Omaanda was already amazing but coming to Sonop is mind blowing!||Property:|The installation is amazing and one of the, if not THE most overwhelming places we stayed the last years (check out My TripAdvisor).|Located on a mountain of rocks where you feel settled back in a mix of an Indiana Jones adventure mixed with a luxury Gatsby or Hercules Poirot atmosphere you just get excited every second getting closer to Zannier Sonop!|You enter the lobby and really feel dran back in time traveling some 80-100 years ago in a a very luxury way. There are only 10 luxury tents with either sunset or sunrise view. All off them are huge, with a luxury bathroom featuring a bathtub with amazing views!|The living and bedroom feature very detailed items that you make for your complete stay feeling back in time.|The pool (about 80 stairs to go) features an amazing landscape view (sunset), more than enough cozy sunchairs and all time around bar service. At night you can go to the cinema here, an amazing experience! Very classic movies like Lion King, Casablanca, Out of Africa or 007 Goldfingee can be watched here very night!|They also have a SPA with a small gym and one of the best massage therapist (Gideon) I ever met!||Food:|Is all served at the highest spot of the hotel in the main restaurant. Breakfast is a la cart and delicious! Lunch is a three course sharing menu with different side dishes, salads, 2 main dishes and dessert.|At night you will get a luxury 5 course menu served, the restaurants turns into a top notch elegant restaurant where perfectly trained waiters will make every dinner unforgettable either in the luxury tent or outside gazing the stars.||Experience:|Fantastic! We usually travel with Four Seasons because they offer very great, unique and personalized expirations (e.g. private game drives in Serengeti or private rafting in Indonesia). Zannier Sonop (and Omaanda) offer the same! We went to the private Dune safari at Sossuvlei and Deadvlei with a champagne breakfast. A private driver took the 4 of us and climbed as high as we wanted to the Big Daddy Dune. at the same time Sonop sent a second car (it’s at least a 3 hour drive from Sonop over there) with an additional three people (chef, waiter, staff) to the national park to set up a luxury table with white mantels, silverware, champagne and fresh cooked omelets over! Amazing!!!|Also the included activities such as horse riding in the private bourse stable 5 minutes away from the resort are a unique experience!||Service:|Top notch! From our driver Robert who already picked us up at Windhoek to bring us to Omaanda and then from there to Sonop and back (5,6 5 hours drive) to Elizabeth wo greet us at the reception and took care us during our stay the staff of Zannier Sonop is just amazing!|Special thanks also to Benny who was a blast driving our stats at the pool and our outdoor cinema experience! Always on time preparing our fs Pierre drinks!|Tresia and Victor who made every meal not just a luxury but also a very familiar experience! Both are pure professional! Thanks to Teresita also for your great and friendly experience at the Dune. It’s tough work you did at 34 degree Celsius and even though so professional and friendly!|Last but not least to Andy our private guide for the 4 nights, we had great experiences with you we will never forget and to Chef Max for preparing always and everywhere such great meals.|I almost forgot the famous Gideon! Probably the best massage I ever had! He is an amazing person with magic hands. Unfortunately I tried the massage the last day, if not I would have gone 2-3 times in 4 days!||Summary:|It is a unique experience staying at Sonop Zannier! From the location, the people and segvue, food and...

I have visited some of the most breathtaking hotels in the world, but Zannier Sonop is on another level entirely. From the moment you arrive, it’s as if time stops, and you’re transported straight into the elegance and adventure of the 1920s. Nestled among massive boulders, this hotel blends luxury with the raw beauty of the Namibian desert, creating an experience that is both surreal and unforgettable.||||The Experience – A Step Into Another Era||||Every detail in Sonop is curated to perfection. The design echoes the spirit of a 1920s explorer’s camp, with authentic vintage furniture, handcrafted dĂ©cor, and luxurious touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a novel. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the writing desks with inkwells to the antique leather trunks and brass accents—a true masterpiece of immersive hospitality.||||And then there’s the atmosphere. It’s pure magic—one moment, you’re sipping cocktails at the elegant bar with a billiards table, and the next, you’re gazing at a sky full of stars with absolute silence surrounding you. It’s impossible not to feel completely at peace here.||||Rooms & Comfort – 100/10||||The tents—if you can even call them that—are a dream. Spacious, beautifully designed, and equipped with plush beds, standalone bathtubs, and panoramic desert views, they redefine the concept of “glamping.” The morning sunrises and evening sunsets from the private terraces are absolutely breathtaking. You will want to wake up early just to soak in the view with a cup of freshly brewed coffee.||||Experiences & Activities – Desert Adventures at Their Finest||||Sonop is not just about luxury; it’s about unforgettable experiences. You can:||✅ Go horseback riding through the desert, feeling like an early explorer.||✅ Climb the world’s highest dunes for sunrise views that will leave you speechless.||✅ Enjoy a lavish Veuve Clicquot breakfast in the dunes, complete with fine silver and crystal glassware.||✅ Indulge in spa treatments, sunset cocktails, and movie nights under the stars.||||Every moment feels like something straight out of a movie.||||Service – The Real Star of the Show||||If I could give the service more than 5 stars, I would! The team at Sonop is outstanding—professional, warm, and genuinely invested in making your stay unforgettable. Special thanks to Victor, Tresia, Benny, Andy, and Gideon—you truly made this experience next level. From the personalized service to the thoughtful touches, everything was beyond perfect.||||Let’s be real—Sonop is remote. But trust me when I say that every minute here is worth it. If you’re looking for a hotel that will leave a lasting imprint on your soul, this is it. Whether you’re a luxury traveler, an adventurer, or someone who simply wants to escape the ordinary, Zannier Sonop is a must-visit.||||✅ Would I come back? In a heartbeat.||⭐ Rating: 5/5 (but honestly, it...

This is most likely one of the most unique hotels I’ve ever been to, given the tents and furnishings it consists of.

Furnishing is a mix of tailor made items and antiques that bring a climate of 1920s safari which we really liked. At the same time, it has all modern amenities that make the stay comfortable in any conditions (AC, pool, gym, SPA etc).

I think that each potential customer should consider this place as rather “destination hotel” rather than just an another lodge on their trip to Namibia. Whereas the surrounding of the hotel is not as diverse (eg limited number of animals) and astonishing as many other places in Namibia, spending there 3 nights, with a wonderful view of the desert / plain, perfect living conditions and food, all made us relax and just rest before continuing our trip.

It’s definitely not an easy accessible place to visit as it’s a bit off the track from the most popular sites in Namibia (ca 4 hr drive on gravel from deadvlei), but it’s worth it, as long as you stay for longer than one night (in such case, this requires a lot of effort to get there and you won’t have enough of time to enjoy everything what the hotel offers).

I found here a several opinions complaining on the staff and I think that these complaints are exaggerated. We stayed in multiple hotels in Southern Africa and i see no reason to claim that this was not in a top 3 that we’ve seen. They were always kind and motivated to help us with any issue. Of course, when compared to the most luxurious hotels in London or Paris, you can figure out that the wine & food might be presented / served differently or room service might be a bit quicker. BUT you still have to remember that despite the fact that the hotel is exquisitely equipped and designed, it’s still built on the rocks in the middle of the desert so it’s not always possible to meet same expectations as in the middle of a European capital.

Personally, we have no complains on the staff but there was one outstanding person that we met at Sonop - Mr Michael who was our guide. He was definitely the most educated and knowledgeable guide we met in Namibia, and we enjoyed every activity we had with him. I think he is one of the biggest advantages of experiences you can have in Zannier Sonop.

Zannier Sonop offers a wide range of French cuisine, served on brilliant antique plates and cutlery, along with long menu of wines and spirits. We were FULL over our entire stay as EVERY meal that we were presented, was incredible.

We stayed in Zannier Sonop as a part of our Honeymoon trip and I have to admit that Mr Riaz who is a manager there, made all his best to make our time there as romantic as possible - we were offered a Honeymoon Package that included a number of romantic activities that we had an opportunity to experience there. He also kept asking for our feedback and made sure that we don’t need...

Zannier Sonop is such an unbelievable and magic place where African dreams come true. Wether you go for horse riding or the cinema under the stars it's truly amazing. A must do and kinda legendary is watching the "Lion King" under the Namibian Milky Way - don't miss that out! If you would like to explore the beautiful and authentic 1920’s British colonial style - as if it’s directly out of a movie you'll be very pleased by a visit at this stunning luxury lodge. On arrival you will immediately step back 👣 in time, transported to old-world safari. The thrill of adventure is omnipresent at Zannier Hotels Sonop. Constructed on top of granite boulders it captures the restorative essence of the desert landscape. đŸœïž Also we were very surprised by the good food in its delicious taste and high quality. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were so tasty and we were always looking forward to it during our stay. We definitely want to come back again in future!

We were blown away. What an amzing place. The hotel bases the decor on the theme of 1920's hunting safari. The rooms are spaced well apart from each other and the silence in the desert is "deafening". The views cannot be translated into any photos as the beauty and splendour of them can only be experienced in person. We spent last night star gazing and it is amazing how much more stars you see in the sky when there is no pollution. The hotel staff are amazing, very friendly, always with a helping hand and generally attentive to all needs and wants. Very professional. The rooms are clean and well organised with the tents themselves being very solid. The hotel does have a spa and a small gym as well as a pool literally in the desert There are game drives including sundowners in the desert and horse trails. The game is not so prevalent but you are in a desert, the landscape more than makes up for it. Definitely an awesome place to visit.

Zannier Sonop is one of the most extraordinary hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The setting is breathtaking, but what truly makes it unforgettable is the people. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home thanks to the warmth and kindness of the staff. Our guide, Michael, was brilliant—so knowledgeable, funny, and thoughtful. Elizabeth welcomed us with such warmth and had us laughing throughout our stay. Teresia, Victor, Hilton, and the entire team treated us with genuine care that made every moment special. All the meals were included in our stay, and the chefs went above and beyond to make every dish delicious. Their creativity and attention to detail made dining an experience of its own (shoutout to Wesley!). It’s rare for us to want to return to the same place twice, but Zannier Sonop has captured our hearts. We’re already planning our next visit.
