As the price reflects, this is not a 5 star hotel. However, this place offers incredible bang for your buck (especially if you are Namibian or SADC).

The rooms are neat, with clean white linen and a basic, but sufficient bathroom. The aircon worked well. There is no WiFi in the room (unless you get one of the rooms close to the pool), so you can spend some quality time with your spouse. Reliable WiFi by pool and lodge. Room service included. Laundry available at extra cost.

The staff was incredible, we only had positive experiences. They did more than expected to make us feel welcome. Roberto and Antonio stood out.

The lodge is very close to the Fish River Canyon; being in such a remote location has it's pros and cons. One advantage is that you can go for strolls in the untouched nature, without hearing anything but the wind howl. You'll see stars here with zero light pollution if you step away from the lodge. Unfortunately, there won't be fresh salmon harvested in Norway this morning. The food is not fine dining, but still tasty and great value for money. Drinks are not overpriced. Awespiring scenery, views and sunsets.

If you are a Camps Bay larney or a politician, this lodge is not for you. If you are anyone else, you'd...

I would travel back to Namibia from the UK just to stay at this lodge again. From start to end it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted with a homemade ginger beer, which was lovely - our room was situated in the middle of all the lodges, so not far from reception and not too far from the pool either! We dumped our bags and headed for the pool, surrounded by amazing views we were able to cool down, we were also able to connect to the WiFi from the pool and our lodge. The room was basic but had everything you need, including towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, but most importantly air-con! Dinner was served from 7-9 we enjoyed a 5 course meal, 2 bottles of water and 2 bottles of wine for £60, which is insanely good value, but it was also absolutely incredible, the Oryx steak was cooked to perfection! Breakfast again was lovely, a buffet style with different juices, fruits, yoghurts, cold meats etc, with the usual coffee/tea eggs and toast. The staff were all very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting to them! Overall an amazing place to stay and a must if you're...

We stayed at the Canyon Village for two nights at the beginning of December and were absolutely blown away by the serenity, service and were fitted with an aircon (much needed in the Namibian heat! The pool also served as a treat in the heat, with Dassie’s to keep you company. The dinner buffet was amazing, hosted under the stars by candle light and the breakfast buffet had a large variety to choose from. The village is in close proximity to the Fish River Canyon (30 min drive) which makes it very convent to travel to and from. The service in particular was outstanding. We would like to give a special mention to Timonthu for being so friendly and helpful. Mike, the maintenance man was an absolute life saver one morning and helped us in changing our flat tyre and then repairing the tyre, all without even being asked. I would highly, highly recommend The Gondwana Canyon Village to anyone and would recommend staying at least two nights to be able to experience and enjoy all its offerings. We...

This is a gem and oasis in the arid desert part of southern Namibia. This is the ideal place to stay for 3 days and discover this part of Namibia. It is close to the Fish River Canyon..second largest canyon in the world..next to the Grand Canyon in America. It is also close to the hot springs of Ais-Ais in the Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. Here you will encounter the Hartman's Mountain Zebras, Oryx, Kudu, Steenbok, Klipspringer and various other antelope and desert flora. The landscapes are just magnificent and was form millions of years ago when the Gondwana Land concept formed. These landscapes are the result of heavy pressure from tectonic plates that moved and when South America breaked away from the Africa continent. Canyon Village is part of the Gondwana Land group which have other lodges across Namibia and southern Africa. Really worth a stay..food is good, hospitality is top notch, scenery spectacular. I can recommend this place...in big sky country.

Like all Gondwana properties, the Village lives perfectly up to the group standard. Th Village became our annual accommodation meet-up point prior to starting the Fish River Canyon. The picturesque units and pathways lit up at night with plenty warm lanterns leading to the main lodge. The food is plentiful, wholesome and you need to come hungry. The Gondwana staff blooms with warm hospitality and makes this a very welcoming oasis in a dry arid region of Namibia. I will return, again and always. There is a great hiking trail that you can do with sundowners up and over the plateau. I can highly recommend doing that also.

The lodge is in an excellent location, close to most of the Fish River Canyon viewpoints. The beds are good, linen and room is clean and they provide a plunge pot for coffee in the room. I would recommend that they rather not have bad painted murals on the wall in spite of their good theme. I would also suggest that they rethink the policy of not allowing parking at the chalets and at the same time make the chalets more private. Having the chalets in a big circle facing each other was a design fault in my opinion but that could be fixed with wooden partitions for instance.
