I was driving to Windhoek from Durban (I know!) and reached Keetmanshoop at about 23:00 on a Monday night, looking for somewhere to spend the night turned into a night mare as most places were closed or was, just to put it "out there" quit gross....... I drove to the nearest pertrol station to perhaps ask an attendant or sleep in my car as I felt that would be better than sleeping at the places I had found, on arrival at the gas station in the distance I saw "Maritz Coutry Lodge" i drove to the gate and the security gaurd was super helpfull even tho at this stage it was almost midnight!! He escorted me to a "little house" showed me in and told me I could pay in the monring before leaving, prob seeing that I was quite tired.... The rooms are very cozy and well decorated, there is a fridge, a tv, kettle/coffee and tea the bathrooms are spotless and the towels fluffy... I could not believe what I had found and nonetheless slept like a baby that night..... the next morning I made my way to reception to pay the bill and everyone was SUPER helpfull eventho it was 05:50 - they offered me breakfast and when I said I was in a rush they asked if they could pack breakfast for me.... I am very pleased with my stay here, and will from here on forward never pass keetmanshoop again without staying over.... Well done on a beautiful establishment and...
Read morePlease do not use this accommodation. We were charged N$950 for a room with NO WATER in the HOT WATER taps. After 8hours on the road, one would expect a place with a hot shower in winter. NOTHING....NO HOT WATER IN THEIR TAPS. The night staff even came to our unit the previous night and wanted us to believe a hum-&-ha story about a timer which was set incorrectly. The male public toilet was leaking water, well is it water or urine, you would not know, would you. The Wi-Fi did not work. The next morning, still not a drop of water in the HOT WATER taps. No-one investigated to find out if we got hot water in the morning to shower or not.
When the owner was confronted, she said she was willing to give a 20% discount. Who in his right mind will pay N$760 for a room without hot water if other venues are available? Why are quality checks not conducted. Why are guests not informed beforehand that there is a problem with the hot water or that the Wi-Fi does not work or is it simply a matter of maybe they can get away with it.
Well not anymore. No-one I know will be vissiting them again. Is the Namibian Hospitality Trade happy to just let such sub-standard venues operate?...
Read moreThis is our fourth (and last) stay at Maritz Lodge. In the past we've been very impressed with the rooms and good service and did not mind paying the higher premium to stay here.||On our previous stay in 2019 we've noticed that the rooms were beginning to look a little runned down.||On our current stay I am sorry to say that we are plainly disappointed. On arrival at the room we were met by a pungent smell from the fenced animals in front of the room. The proximity of farm animals to the room also causes a lot of flies in and around the room. Also a bad smell from some tank or drain.||Trying to take take a shower we found there was no hot water. Had to get someone to come and look? Later the evening no hot water again due to a timer system on the geyser. I think.||Chairs on the veranda had thick layer of dust and the veranda floor had aminal droppings on it.||I cannot recommend this lodge. ||Come on pull...
