My review of Kavango river lodge restaurant is based on my three different days of my visit of October 2020 just after the lock down has been lifted and peaple can sit relux and eat.
My first time was a lazy afternoon as I was looking for pizza with my sister Agnes, she suggested Kavango river lodge after the sister lodge could not serve us.
When we got to the lodge restaurants, we decided to sit down and enjoy the Margareta pizza. We found quite some people, mostly youth the oldest could have been in the mid or early 40 , it was not a mixed crowd only people of colour. This was around 16:00h the vibe was cool for a regular person or let me say for frequent visitors of the restaurant.
Personally I did not like the vibe reason is simple, all I wanted was food and not to chill. The waitress made our visit special, I recommend Alga great service she pays attention and also advise, I don't know if she does that to everyone but to us she was so sweet.
The food hmmm, being so far away from the city think again, I love food I have eaten in most restaurants on this planet, the food is great at Kavango river lodge, the pizza is the best in town. If you are driving pass Rundu either from Katima Mulilo or from Windhoek, I recommend you to stop and taste the food at this restaurant.
My second visit, was 12:00pm we were driving out of Rundu town heading on the road to Nkurenkuru to some village just 70km from Rundu. We needed some quick food. We called Kavango river lodge we spoke to the receptionist Betty she is so calm and very welcome and professional too. We did not wait for a long time only 6 minutes after arriving it was all ready, the service was great. We thought of checking out the restaurant, this time we found some adults at least in their 50 of course with an Asian lady seated waiting for her food.
The 3rd visit was Friday, dinner time 19:00h we went there again with my sister, this time we found a full house, almost every table was filled with either 3 or 6 people, I wondered what could bring these youth at this restaurant?
I concluded, price was playing a big deal here. I would judge from my look that half of us did not have a job, and a handful of working class gathered. When the restaurant is this full be prepared to see a lot going on. Both mannered and not mannered meet at the same place. One thing that really turned me off was a man in his early 40 seating at a next table playing his music from his phone and literary everyone could here his music... I think the waitress was just being modest not to tell him to stop.
If you want a romantic dinner, I don't recommend this place. Otherwise, they really have affordable food and drinks, make a turn there and let me know your...
Read moreMy NamPower team and I booked accommodation at Kavango River Lodge for work. However, the experience that we had with the receptionist was like onion. First was a mix up with a room that was specifically requested for me. It was apparently not available which she only informed my secretary rudely on our arrival telephonically as she the receptionist was not on the premises. About 20 minutes into, my "new room" I was informed by the Security Guard that the requested room was now available but more so that she was informed that I was the Head of a NamPower department. No apology for the inconvenience, even when she arrived on the premises later that.||Later that evening, One of my colleagues went to enquire regarding the laundry/iron rules at the reception from the Receptionist. He was rudely told to go read the folder in his room which he had not seen. Customer service wise, she could explain to the client and then refer him to the folder for more information.||On the day of our checkout, I was ready for her when she indicated that she couldn't give each one of us an invoice for our rooms.||This was the second trip that someone from my team has a rude encounter. Needless to say, my team and I stayed at Tambuti where the reception was 190 tmes better. We will not be staying at Kavango River Lodge again.||Paying customers should be treated with courtesy and respect. It just not acceptable to make customers feel like they are an inconvenience until you know how high their...
Read moreImagine a serene spot where the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant hues, casting a golden glow over everything around. This place is perched on a gentle hill, giving you a panoramic view of the vast river that lazily winds through the landscape. The water reflects the colors of the sky, creating a mesmerizing mirror effect that doubles the beauty of the sunset.
Tall grasses and lush trees frame the view, providing a perfect, natural picture frame. You can hear the soft rustling of the leaves as a gentle breeze passes through, and the distant calls of birds heading home add to the tranquil ambiance. The air is filled with the fresh scent of nature, a mix of earth, water, and greenery.
As the sun slowly dips below the horizon, the sky bursts into a spectacular display of oranges, pinks, and purples. This magical moment is best enjoyed in the company of loved ones, perhaps with a blanket spread out for a cozy picnic. The reflection of the setting sun on the river creates a pathway of light that seems to invite you to walk into the horizon.
It's a perfect place to relax, reflect, and appreciate the natural beauty of the world.
Sounds like a wonderful spot,...
