We stayed at Hakos Guest Farm for one night at the end of March 2022 - we were the only guests in the main accommodation and one was in the camping area.||||We had a lovely but basic room with a lovely view of the mountains out the window. The shower was not that strong but it was in the middle of nowhere so feel it's to be expected! ||The internet was pretty good in the room (and same strength as in the main area as they recently had fitted an extender). ||The main hotel area was quaint and interesting! The pool was inside which we didn't realise when we booked but maybe we missed that. There's 2 resident cats and 1 resident dog who were very cute!||We had a lovely 3-course meal in the evening but it did seem there wasn't much (if any) choice as to the menu - luckily we both eat pretty much anything! We had some wine, beer and soft drinks but didn't get asked much for refreshments whilst there. ||The sunset from where we had dinner was absolutely stunning and very peaceful. ||We then did stargazing with one of the owners for an hour - this was great! He was very knowledgeable and we were very lucky it was clear weather as it had been raining/cloudy the night before we arrived. We learnt lots about the southern hemisphere stars which we then could recognise when in other places in Namibia which we loved.||The main few cons we had was that with it still being the wet season there were a lot of bugs which coming from England we weren't expecting! No harmful ones but just a lot on the way to our room and elsewhere.||Finally, we had booked through Safari Now who had lost our bank transfer deposit for a good while. They then apparently charged us wrong (we were informed this when we went to pay balance at the...
Read moreThe welcoming that we had was such a disappointment, we had so far wonderful experience with locals at all the places in which we have stayed.|It is a long tough drive to get there, the road is really bad but you could expect at least to have a friendlier welcoming.|We arrived and she was literally just pointing to the camping area which is 800 mts from the main place, she didn’t even get the interest to tell us about the activities in the area, their facilities, we asked about dinner and besides they ask for twice the price from other places they don’t even let you choose what you want to eat or at least ask if you have allergies or if you are vegetarian, her comment was “you don’t get to choose”|Such a disappointment that in our trip in Namibia this was the worst place we faced, basically we wasted time and energy trying to reach the place.|You can really feel that the attitude is not from a local, otherwise we are sure that the impression would have been by far so different.|Thanks to her attitude and after checking the horrible campsite, we decided to drive another hour to a better place!|Don’t waste your time...
Read moreDrove very far to reach the telescopes, only to find the lady doesn't know about them and can't operate them. Her husband was gone and he alone knows about the telescopes. Can't really fault them on this, better call ahead and make sure you book time for the telescopes. Felt a very unfriendly vibe, and the lady only spoke German despite being fluent in English. My husband is German and I am Canadian-Chinese, found the 45 min breakfast exhausting when I am trying constantly to join the conversation, and my husband is also trying to switch to English, but she only answers back to him in German. The most bizarre experience in Namibia, and we traveled for 4 weeks. Also all the signs, rules, instructions posted ALL in German, no English signs at all. If you are of German ancestry, then by all means come and enjoy, but if you are not, it's a gamble. Best take your time, money and...
