Great location, beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the savannah in the valley. We were on site 1 - and it was fantastic. The Hilux and roof tent were parked under a tent-like carport next to a large rock. Next to it - also in the shade - the kitchenette with running water, light and power socket, a permanently installed table and two benches. The sanitary facilities are built into the landscape behind a rock, color-coordinated with the surroundings, with warm water in the morning and evening (a site employee comes by especially to heat the water). The lodge is within easy walking distance and there is also a small circular trail with explanations of the flora and fauna. If the booking situation allows, campsite users may eat at the lodge, but this is not guaranteed. We had a drink there at lunchtime and went to a wide rocky outcrop from where you can gaze into the distance. It is said that a pool and a store are to be built at the campsite - we hope that it will be just as hidden as the place we had. We were able to enjoy nature and the quiet atmosphere without really being alone - we only saw that there were other guests on the site from a...

Beautiful campsite, but disappointing and overpriced guided tour

Mowani Campsite is absolutely stunning — the campsites are spacious, well-designed, and offer breathtaking views. The amenities are excellent, clean, and well-maintained. It’s a peaceful, scenic place that truly elevates the camping experience.

However, the guided tour offered was a major letdown. It was advertised at the reception as covering five highlights, but in reality it is only three, two of which were rushed in under ten minutes. One stop was Burnt Mountain, inaccurately described as a volcano, and barely any information was shared. For the price charged, the experience was simply not worth it.

We strongly advise against booking this tour. Instead, take your own car and visit Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest, and the Bushman Rock Engravings on your own. All are easy to access independently, and you’ll get more insight from a travel guidebook or a quick online search than from the guide, nothing personal, cool guy, though.

Wonderful place to stay — just...

Incredible campsite, for sure the best one throughout our road trip in Namibia. The location is perfect with amazing views, you have electricity, and hot water shower that is done by burning wood in a furnace ( staff will take care of it) and everything is just beautifully set( shade, table, kitchen, bathroom) and you feel completely alone there even with other guests at the remaining camp spots. It is a must place to stay in any trip.

On a small note, we had a problem with our tyres pressure and our own compressor was not working very well so we asked for help on the lodge. The staff promptly helped by filling our tyres with the right pressure but I was asked for 200NAD/10 euros afterwards which seemed a bit excessive. In any case I had no more issues with my tyres pressure afterwards and this does not change my opinion as this is a must spot to spend a night in your trip,...
