This was, without a doubt, the most beautiful place we stayed during our entire trip through Namibia. The large tented suites were phenomenal – stepping into them felt like stepping back in time by a hundred years. For a moment, we were wealthy European travelers on a grand safari in a bygone era. The decor, the attention to detail, the ambiance – everything contributed to this magical feeling of timeless elegance and adventure.

The lodge is located in Damaraland, which, to me, is the most breathtaking region of Namibia. We were lucky enough to witness something truly rare – thanks to unusually heavy rains in March, we experienced a version of Damaraland that few ever get to see. The landscape was transformed into a sea of green and silvery grasses, stretching as far as the eye could see. It was pure magic.

And then there was the sky. Words barely do it justice. Each night, we stood in awe under an explosion of stars, the Milky Way clearly visible, arching above us in all its glory. It felt like a private cosmic performance, vast and humbling, yet incredibly intimate – a spectacle we will never forget.

The view from the hilltop near the lodge was equally unforgettable. The sunsets from there were beyond stunning – a slow, golden descent behind the hills, lighting up the sky with colors we didn’t know existed.

The food was consistently excellent. Every evening featured a grill night with perfectly cooked meats, and breakfasts were fresh, varied, and delicious. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive – it made the entire experience feel even more special.

And unlike most places in Namibia, this lodge had something rare and much appreciated: a pool with crystal-clear, filtered water. On a hot day, it was the perfect, refreshing luxury.

This place is unforgettable – a dreamlike retreat where time slows down and beauty surrounds you at every step. We will carry the memories of this stay...

The location is superb, the facilities are exquisite and very well designed with style and attention to detail, and fits right in with the enviroment, the sunset drinks on the hill are breath taking, we were booked into room 16, this in a premium room, unfortunately it is right in the middle of all the guest and staff foot traffic, everyone has to walk past the unit to get to the main reception/dining area, kitchen, pool and bar, because the units are made from tents, its not sound proof, the walkways are gravel, so every person walking past few meters away is vlearly heard. Right next to it is the kitchen, you hear every pot, pan, and staff member from kitchen opening till closing at night. The second day i requested from the reception to relocate us, which was done without hassle, and we had an exceptional quite experience , so I guess it was unit specific. The safari game drive is through a beautiful landscape and seeing the elephants were amazing. Our ranger was unfortunate and his driving even more so.

Overall it was an amazing place and venue, the guest experience was a let down, but as explained above it might be just a series of unfortunate things specific to our visit. Definitely...

During our holiday in Namibia in May 2025, we spent two days at Adventure Camp Twyfelfontein. The deciding factor was the luxury tents, which were fantastic in themselves. Of course, it is a tent, which means that when the wind blows, it moves and makes noise. But that's great, because you get a kind of camping experience without having to forego the comforts of a hotel. Unfortunately, there are a few downsides to the location of the tents: in our case, they were relatively close together, so you have to close the side windows, otherwise your neighbour can see inside. Another downside in our case was the location near the reception area. All vehicles drive past there early in the morning and it is still busy in the evening. So if you can, you should reserve tents in the rear area.

All the food, including breakfast, is great, with a large selection and very good quality. There is something for everyone and no wishes remain unfulfilled. The staff do a great job and are friendly and helpful.

The drives to see the elephants are fantastic and will remain in your memory. However, in May it was still freezing cold in the mornings, so you should dress accordingly. Fortunately, there were lined ponchos available before departure!

The walk up the mountain to the viewpoint and probably one of the most spectacular sundowners of the trip is a must, but it's hard on the legs. At the top, however, there are snacks and drinks and an incredibly beautiful view!

Conclusion: We can recommend the Adventure Camp, but would reserve tents in the rear area. That would be the icing...

Absolutely fabulous hotel. The economy tents are small but surprisingly cool at night. There are 2 pools which are great for cooking off in the heat of the afternoon. The dinner is great, straight from the braai. The desert elephant nature drive is wonderful. Thoroughly recommended but don't sit in the back row as it's much bumpier ! Baboons live in the rocks behind the tents and are quite noisy but great to watch as the climb about and visit the small waterhole. The sundowner spot on the hill behind is beautiful and having a small car up top is very civilized.
