Accommodation Aircon wasn’t working Moved to another room, aircon work for one day and wasn’t the following day. Shower in the first room was wasting on the floor and had not warm water. Second room, the toilet sit was broken. The pillows were smelling sweat and dirt although covered in clean sheets. The kettle had some leaves boiled in it and wasn’t cleaned out. Fan in the toilet is broken.

Restaurant and Bar First day’s breakfast, they had ran out of food. Ran out of coffee and coffee cups. The restaurant had flies and breakfast yoghurts and fruits were covered in flies. Aircons in the restaurant were broken, in a 36-38 degrees temperature. The lunch was just horrible. Took 1hr 42mins to get me a pizza Many items on the menu not available.

Staff Generally not friendly.

Public toilets Didn’t have toilet paper. Fans are broken No hand towels Broken hand dryer Toilets are smelling

Conference Facilities The venue was buzzing with mosquitoes Poorly arranged Tea break catering was horrible.

Comment: This is horrible service for the amount that one pays per day to stay in this hotel. Things are falling apart and are poorly managed. I had horrible two nights and don’t ever want to come back here. You can’t continue charging such exorbitant prices for poor...

The hotel has a plaque outside at reception depicting 4 stars. This sadly is not the case for a number of reasons.

Let us start with the positive points first, the airconditioners in the rooms work. And this heat that is rather a necessity more than it is a luxury. Bedding seems to be clean and not too worn which also makes a stay more comfortable.

Breakfast also is not bad at all and manages to set up your day well.

The negatives are items that can be fixed and rather easily. Should I say most of them can be fixed easily. The first negative is the staff. For the simple reason they lack proper training. A well trained attentive staff member can make an average establishment into a good one. The restaurant for dinner also leaves much to be desired as service was slow and the menu limited with items not being in stock.

The overall experience leaves one decidedly underwhelmed given that it is part of Protea Marriot group.

The problem one has to deal with is finding a reputable establishment and in areas such as these one tends to revert to tried and tested brands. It’s when these brands then fail to live up to their own standards that one feels let down.

Not the worst place I’ve had to spend a night but certainly not the best either. Next time I would think twice before...

Never is really long time…. But I will NEVER EVER stay at any Protea Hotel again! Me and my colleagues booked in today; colleague’s key-card not working and when they got it open the door was struggling to close again. Moved him to a new room. We went for dinner. They ran out of Windhoek Draught. Unfriendly waiter; had to call him to take our order. Worst food ever! Very small portions at a very very expensive price. Food cold and tasteless! When one of my colleagues sent his ‘very raw’ and cold sirloin steak back they suddenly had no sirloin steak anymore. When i got to my room my key-card was not working. Went back to receptionist and it seemed like a huge effort for her to help me. She finally got it fixed. Went back to my room to get ready for bed…. Bed lamp not working, aircon sounded like ir is going to explode any moment, dirty shower curtain, dirty bath mat, almost no toilet paper, bedding dirty!!! I will NEVER EVER stay at any Protea hotel again! Worst...

The real question is would I start here again? Maybe I really wanted a room where the heat works 😩 The good The food is great I had the grilled line fish with rice and salad. My friends had beef fillet with mash potatoes and salad, lamb with rice and chicken and rice. The check in process was smooth and quick. They also let us see the rooms first before we checked in. The receptionist went above and beyond on our last stay and made us dinner because the kitchen had closed early. The rooms have a safe Now the bad The safe didn’t work The tv only had 6 channels and it’s not a smart tv The air con only worked the second night The other 2 nights we were freezing The rooms are dated in need of upgraded furniture, and a fridge in the room would be great. They didn’t change the towels in our last night And the towels were not clean the first day they did change them the second day. When I noticed they we’re dirty the front desk staff and housekeeping had already left for the night.

Its a clean hotel at least. But its clearly older than the Namibian flag. Staff was friendly and can do with some training but still helpful. But I suspect they might earn a minimum wage. The biggest joke is Protea Hotels/Marriott having these little notices about conserving water and that you must re-use your dirty towels to help them save water. But the geyser is situated at the nearest branch in Botswana it seems as the taps were running for 20mins (no jokes) and the water was still cold. So I ended up taking a cold shower feeling guilty for wasting so much water. The only conservation this company is interested in is the conservation of money in their pockets. You will be over paying to stay in this place. I really thought that the place was closed when we arrived. It looked abandoned. Definitely wouldn't recommend, unless there is nothing else.

The room was clean, but the toilet had a foul smell the whole time I was there. The hot tap at the basin didn't work and the basin didn't close. There is no FRIDGE in my room. My aircon remote didn't work. They refilled my tea with only rooibos tea, nothing else like an Earl Grey or Ceylon Blend. The menu options are a little limited but it covers all the basics. It says the bar is open until 2 AM but when I went down for a beer at 11 PM, it was closed. The toaster worked the first day I was there, the next day it was broken and never fixed for the remainder of my stay. My hotel key didn't work the last night of my stay, even after they tried to reactivate it. Hotel staff is friendly though.
