Our stay at Mokuti Lodge near Etosha National Park was absolutely incredible, and the highlight of our trip was the safari experience with our guide, Jafet. The lodge itself is stunning, surrounded by lush greenery, well-maintained grounds, and excellent facilities. The staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring our stay was truly comfortable.
Jafet our safari guide, made the entire experience unforgettable. His expertise and passion for wildlife were evident from the start. On a half-day trip north to Stinkwaterhole, he guided us to an amazing herd of elephants up close, along with hyenas, zebras, gnus, and giraffes. During a full-day safari westward to Halali, Jafet’s incredible spotting skills and deep knowledge helped us see an even wider variety of animals, including rhinos, lions, cheetahs, and even a honey badger, as well as six different kinds of game. His ability to explain animal behaviors and his skilled driving through the terrain made the journey both educational and enjoyable. Jafet‘s energy and enthusiasm were contagious, ensuring every moment felt special.
We highly recommend Mokuti Lodge for its luxurious accommodations and unparalleled safari experiences. If you’re planning a visit, be sure to ask for Jafet as your guide for a safari trip - you won’t regret it!! We initially considered self-driving, but having a guide like Jafet made all the difference. Guides know the best-known animal spots, and their communication network allows them to locate rare animals more easily.
One small suggestion for the lodge would be to reduce vehicle noise in rugged terrain by using rubber plates between the metal pieces on the doors - it could make the experience...
Read moreI had high expectations of Mokuti based on reviews and website, and I wasn’t disappointed, wonderful resort style hotel overall. The location was perfect, less then 1 minute outside Etosh Von Lindequist gate, great to come in and out for self drives whenever it suits you. The (standard) rooms were a great size, although the bathroom was an odd design with lack of privacy if sharing with others, otherwise everything you need. Also a fully stocked complementary re-stocked mini bar fridge. Food was delicious with massive buffet services for breakfasts and dinners, with huge selection of different types of dishes. Lunch and snacks are offered by Al a cart menu with small selection of dishes yet after the big breakfast and big dinner you won’t mind. Staff are friendly, professional and always happy to help and have a chat, even the staff on the front gate always made me laugh with our daily chats. Facilities and grounds are impeccable; very modern and spacious, with different areas depending on your needs; quiet space in the main reception building, various lounge and sitting areas beside the different pools, seats outside your room and even a reptile park that “Reptile Man” (sorry forgot his name) was very welcoming and passionate to guide you around. Cannot recommend Mokuti enough, if here try to spend an afternoon at the resort to enjoy the facilties. I also read about their sustainability practices after staying there and...
Read moreTerrible over priced rooms in an otherwise good hotel. The staff are well trained and management should be commended for this. However the rooms, whilst clean, were a great disappointed.
Size wise it was what you might expect in central London or Tokyo. For the African bush, the dimensions were just mean. Bizarrely, other than the glass door, there were no windows. Coupled with the austere decor, this left the room feeling like a cell (take your pick from monastic or prison). There was seating, outside of course, but this was neither comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing. I swiftly resorted to reading my book at the pool bar area, which was excellent in contrast, though understandably a little noisy.
I’ll spare you the shopping list of problems with the room. I took the rare decision to voice my disappointment with the manager. Apparently they are renovating the rooms. I wouldn’t bother. I’d apply a bulldozer and start afresh to resolve the fundamental issues of size and privacy, as well as a host of minor design faults. A shame as other parts of the hotel are good.
The hotel grounds has plenty of wildlife in it, a good thing. However, the little squirrels while cute and playful were too rodent like to appeal to Mrs B. In time they became a bit of a nuisance and would worry me if I had small children with me. Perhaps a hotel cat or two would be helpful to stop these pests becoming...
