Oh Mushara Villa...where to start ...||We are just back from a 7 night stay at this beautiful little hidden gem , set deep in the African bush - and we loved it so much, we’ve booked another 10 night stay this month.||||There are two luxury villas on the property- we stayed at villa 17. It was absolutely perfect, big, clean, comfortable - and the African interiors blew us away!! So tastefully decorated, you will literally want to take everything inside the villa home with you. Huge mosquito net over the bed to keep you safe at night. Fully stocked mini bar, freshly baked cookies, coffee press, coffee machine ...an abundance of assorted teas ....oh the list is endless. The two villas have their own private plunge pool, decking area, outside showers - and waterhole where you will see the wildlife drink throughout the day. ||||The staff - so friendly and helpful, they genuinely want to serve you and make sure you have the time of your life. Special shoutout to Cecelia - who met us off every game drive with a big smile on her face and an ice cold gin and tonic. ||Food - amazing , 5* . We chose the all inclusive option, So all our meals, alcohol etc was included - it’s so much easier - and it meant we did not spend a penny at all when we were there. I highly recommend this option. ||||Game drives - ahh Etosha is the gift that keeps on giving. Game everywhere, you will see everything! I have to write, my husband and I have travelled extensively across Africa - we have done luxury safaris in Kenya - the Masai Mara, all over the Serengeti and the rest of big parks in Tanzania, S/Africa, Zimbabwe etc etc - Etosha is up there with the best of them. It is absolutely beautiful. We paid extra to have our own private vehicle and guide - something I highly recommend to anyone doing safari , this way you get to do what you want to do and see what you want to see, when you want to see it, without worrying about other tourists schedules. Our day would start at 7,( taking a bush breakfast with us - prepared by the hotel staff ) ..leaving so early to catch the big cats in action before it gets too hot , then back to the lodge around 11 to hang out at the pool and eat lunch, then back out on the Savannah at 3 until 7. Our evening game drive we would pull up at one of the busy waterholes and sit drinking gin and tonics made for us by our guide Petrus - (who’s been in the game for 15 years - and was a book of knowledge- what he doesn’t know about Africa and it’s wildlife isn’t worth knowing-) whilst watching the comings and goings of the animals in the area. Our game drive ended watching the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen! ||Watch out for the Milky Way too - very visible at night ! ||||Little tip - the lodge also has its own landing strip for fly in guests . We chartered a light aircraft and flew directly there- we were met off the plane by our amazing guide - and stepped off the plane straight into our safari jeep. Absolute luxury. And a way to avoid airports and other tourists. ||||So , in a nutshell, 5 * from me. Loved every minute of our stay. Thanks to everyone at Mushara for a truly wonderful time. And see...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at Villa Mushara. From the website it looked like the villas were off somewhere on their own. This is not the case they are right there at Mushara Lodge, they are just down a private walkway, so all the resort amenities, pool, shop and restaurant are right there, which is great!||||The villas are stunning, they far exceeded our expectations, the photos did not do them justice. There is a very large, comfortable livingroom, a large bedroom with separated packing area for luggage, a safe and lots of closet space, the bathroom is also very large with two sinks, separate toilet, a large shower and soaking tub. The deck area is extremely private with a beautiful soaking pool and a view of a water hole that attracted animals throughout the day. A complimentary bar and coffee/tea station are all included, and you can dine in your room if you prefer. Everything was first class!||||One of the other reviews complained that there was only one air conditioning unit, this is no longer the case there were two heating/cooling units and the villa was always comfortable.||||Food at the lodge was superb, one night we ate in the dining room and the next in the boma. Everything was fresh, and prepared to perfection. Breakfasts were generous and hot items were prepared as ordered.||||When you stay in the villa you have a private guide so nobody else is in the vehicle. This is really nice as you can customize what you want to see. Our guide was Amelia, she was amazing! She knew everything about Etosha and just where to find the animals we wanted to see, found black rhinos twice where we were the only ones at the sighting. She was also good at positioning the vehicle so we could get the best photos possible. ||||Our experience at Villa Mushara was so good, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if or...
Read moreI am going to write this as a party that has been coming to Africa since 1975. We stayed in one of the two 5 star villas. Frankly this villa could be located any where in the world and it would be written up as beyond excellent. The food in the lodge is excellent. However where the lodge falls to live up to what we expect in Africa is upon your return from a game drive. There is not the normal hot or cold towel and welcome from the staff that you come to expect in Africa. Now the bad part of this review. The game park that is used by all of the lodges near by does not allow off road viewing. That means you are limited to three water holes that we visited and the luck of seeing lions 150 meters off of the road but not able to go to them off the road. There is Dik Dik drive where the tamest Dik Dik we have ever seen are in clear view in fact they have a "bathroom area"! This is not a park that I would ever waste my time coming to again. As for the room it was great but so are other rooms around Africa where one can witness animals off of the road and not at very busy...
