3.5 stars (Read below to know why)
Amazing place to be with greenery everywhere and at just less than half hour distance from Kathmandu!
There's ample place to walk around, lots of sitting are in the garden to chill and let the body cool down.
There's a conference room which has to be booked and paid in advance. We were allowed to use it for no additional cost since it was raining and we couldn't do the basic events in the garden. The conference room is nicely set up with a big enough stage for a group to dance.
All food was great. Buffet refilling was slow as I experienced at least one empty bowl in both lunch and dinner. Many had issues with cold bread in the breakfast, but this is quite common in large packs. I would still insist on faster refilling since it's not convenient to be back for a single dish during heavy course of meal.
It is a 5 start retreat provided it's so close to the valley but I'm cutting of 1.5 stars for the following reasons and will update once I'm notified (preferably in the comments) that these have been fixed:
WiFi system is horrible. Having to login in every 5-10 minutes was a nightmare. Mobile connectivity is very poor so a good reliable WiFi is a most. But with the way WiFi system is set up, it's not reliable even if the connection itself might have been good.
There's no wine. As a vineyard, a lot of us were excited to taste the wine, but unfortunately the vineyard is closed as we were told and there was no stock of wine left. It was a bummer. Everyone would expect to taste their home-brewed wine and feel like a connoisseur for a second or two!
Outside food is not allowed which is fine but for anyone who loves munching, there's absolutely nothing you can buy inside the resort and keep munching. Chips, peanuts, lays, kurkure, or anything, you can't buy inside, and there's a board that reads outside food not allowed. A few of us who had bought some of these never opened it to honor the signboard that's there right at the entrance. They should definitely keep some of these and serve complimentary snacks (popcorn, peanuts, papad or anything munchy) whenever someone orders a beer. It's not always about cost, it's also about quality of service and keeping the guests happy as that's the purpose of being there...
Read morePataleban Vineyard is a really good option for a weekend/weekdays gate away from Kathmandu. Only 20 mins away from Thankot and city hustle, it can be the solace you might be craving for.
Talking about the rooms: We booked double sharing room, which I have to say was pristine clean. It might be the impact of the ongoing safety protocols, they have carried it really well.
Food and Beverage: Breakfast buffet with the room package was top notch. In fact, it was the best meal for the stay. Apart from breakfast, we opted for a la carte and choose various options ranging from Briyani to Momos. The food was okayish. Wouldn’t recommend briyani to anyone. But Pizza, Chips Chilly and momos were good enough. And I guess, dinner buffet would have been the better option.
Also, we ordered barbeque and expected to grill it ourselves while sitting on bonfire. But it wasn’t and wouldn’t choose it on my next visit.
Talking about their wine, due to the lockdown they didn’t have much option. Only red wine was available at the time. Being a person tilted towards white wine, didn’t enjoy it much.
Ambiance: Again, taking a break after a long time, this place turned out to be a heavenly experience
And the Best part of this place is - it's PET FRIENDLY! Jerry had such a blast here. (1 extra star...
Read moreAmazing getaway located literally 40 minutes (in good traffic) from Kathmandu. It’s probably the closest getaway you can find. Go online and you’ll find rooms for around $50 USD/night. My friends and I got a deal where each of us paid around $45/night that came with 3 meals. We were stuffed by the time we left, and felt pampered.
The rooms are modern, clean and spacious. We got one with a large bath tub that we filled and sat in for an hour. It felt like a personal hot tub, so relaxing.
The views in the morning are amazing all around. Highly recommend taking a walk down and then back up to visit the nearby temple and surrounding local life if you’re in for an adventure.
The employees are just the friendliest people ever. You can taste the 3 wines they have. Their grape variety is Japanese. We went during off season and were the only ones in the whole resort that evening....
