I write this review with a heavy heart, hoping to spare others from the distress my sisters and their friends endured at this Hotel during their trek to the breathtaking Lake Gosaikunda in Langtang National Park.
Two of them arrived at the hotel ahead of the others, seeking solace from the cold with a simple request for a glass of hot water while waiting for their group to arrive. Little did they know that this innocent request would spiral into a harrowing ordeal.
As their friends arrived and found another hotel with cleaner options and comfortable accommodations, they wished to stay their. Instead of charging for the hot water and a thank you, the hotel workers or owner displayed an appalling lack of humanity.
They not only refused to release them without extortion but also threatened to ensure they wouldn't find shelter anywhere else in the area, taking advantage of the remoteness of this trekking destination. It was a moment of sheer desperation, with no authorities or police to turn to for help.
This incident is nothing short of criminal behavior, tarnishing the reputation of Nepali hospitality that we hold dear. If they could treat these helpless girls with such callousness, one can only imagine how they might behave towards foreigners.
In the world of trekking, where tired and vulnerable travelers rely on each other for support, such an experience is utterly disheartening. It's clear that this hotel lacks the basic principles of empathy and hospitality. I implore you to steer clear of this establishment and consider alternatives that value the well-being and dignity of...
Read moreWe stayed at the Namaste Hotel and Restaurant for 4 nights before and after our Langtang trek arranged by the owners, the Lama family. During our time here, we felt relaxed and peaceful and enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts. The accommodation was hands down the most comfortable during our time in the Langtang area and the trek. Great hot showers, good food and clean rooms. The view from the terrace and some of the rooms is stunning and you can even see snow-capped mountains! Nights are lovely and quiet.||The Lama family also arrange highly recommended guided treks in the area: we did our 8-day Langtang trek with the son Dorjee, who undoubtedly is the best trekking guide around. Dorjee is a knowledgeable, warm and kind person who made every possible effort to make us feel at home and enjoy the trek. We enjoyed his company and guidance and all our trek had to offer. We were very happy to have chosen Dorjee as our guide because of his deep knowledge of the local area, people and customs. (Many times during the trek we witnessed non-local guides from Kathmandu and beyond stop and ask him for advice on distances and mountain heights etc!)||If you are planning a trek to Langtang,...
Read moreAfter we did the Langtang trek it was nice to stop at a place that was a little nicer. It has wonderful views. The owner, Kramer Lama really wanted to learn about what people would really appreciate. We had a western toilet attached to the room and a mirror for the first time in days. Plenty of hot water and a very enjoyable shower. I understand he has some towels available. He was making a coffee bar and working on offering drip coffee etc which is a welcome improvement on the usual instant coffee at most places. I wanted to post a photo of the owner at his coffee bar. The hotel is more in the middle of town so it will not the first place you find if arriving from either direction but once there it is more convenient since it is in the middle of town. The owner helped us get our laundry done which was nice. Truly a wonderful family run place which was...
