I stayed at the Old Mustang Guest House (January 2022), and the experience beautifully captured the warmth and charm of Nepali hospitality. Perfectly located near the heart of the town, it offers easy access to local attractions, cafés, and shops, yet remains quiet enough to enjoy a peaceful night’s rest. Its convenient location makes it an excellent base for both short stays and longer explorations of the region.
The rooms are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged, reflecting the cozy simplicity that many other guests have also appreciated. What truly stands out, though, is the authentic Nepali Thakali meal served here — rich in flavor, beautifully balanced, and genuinely homemade. It’s one of the most talked-about features in many reviews, and rightfully so. Complementing it is their unique local drink, Raksi, made from kiwi, which adds a delightful twist to the traditional beverage — smooth, aromatic, and distinctively refreshing.
The staff are warm, polite, and attentive, always ready with a smile or a local tip. Several guests, including myself, felt their hospitality was heartfelt and consistent.
If there’s any room for improvement, perhaps a few modern touches in décor and broader breakfast options would make it even better. Overall, Old Mustang Guest House offers authentic taste, comfort, and true Nepali spirit — a memorable stay...
Read moreMost unfriendly stay option. Please try to skip this place by all means. Rooms were dark with more insects. On top of that we found the owner or one who provided us the room was super unfriendly, we asked for dinner and it was served late. They wanted to charge extra money for hot drinking water that we asked for since i felt sick. If we are not eating dinner there then they could charge a price , we are already paying hefty for dinner and she wants to mint us on the drinking water. Sabji for parotta was served less and we need to keep asking for it and then it was served a little again. I didn't even get a thought to ask again. It is not a value for money place. It is costlier considering the stay option and unfriendliness of the owner. Even though I didn't do any negotiation on money part, i just paid whatever they asked nor trying to be rude even then they were unfriendly and did not even want to listen to us as if they do a free service....

He went through a lot of effort...
