Boetiekhotel Azul — Hotel in Goeree-Overflakkee

I worked the Boetiekhotel Azul in Goedereeede for three nights as i was working in the area. To say it exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. The setting in the beautiful village of Goedereede was stunning, with two lovely choices of eating, 2 doors either side of the hotel and a bar which was a 30 second walk from the hotel entrance. In the Golden Lion restaurant, the seafood is fabulous. The Boetiekhotel Azul is a listed building. The room i was in was stunning, the attention to every little detail was appreciated and was evident throughout the hotel, including the breakfasts. The hosts of the hotel were fabulous and really care about their guests welfare and comfort, they went above and beyond to assist myself and my colleague in getting to and from our place of work. It was an amazing stay! The room was clean and spacious but could be perhaps a bit better updated. There was coffee and tea, toiletries, etc. The service in the hotel was really on top! Extremely nice and polite people, helpful with answering any questions. Breakfast was really tasty and the ladies that were preparing and serving it were exceptional! It's a very nice hotel, with a great standard, and again - the people working there add multiple stars because they are all amazing! The place is right in the heart of the town center, but it is a small town so it might not be everybody's cup of tea. Azul is een absolute top-B&B! Prachtig oud raadhuis, met smaak verbouwd en ingericht. Gelegen in het verstilde oude Goedereede waar een rondje om de kerk en vuurtoren zeer de moeite waard is.

Ons gezelschap van vier loopt de GR5 vanuit Hoek van Holland naar Nice. Telefonisch contact opgenomen met Azul, omdat ons op dat moment eind februari onduidelijk was of reservering voor eerste paasdag mogelijk was. Maartje stelde snel gerust, en op onze (helaas regenachtige) aankomstdag werden we hartelijk ontvangen door een van de twee eigenaressen, Soraya. Door de lounge geleid, via de stille binnentuin naar twee studio kamers. Alles perfect van omvang en heerlijke matrassen! Het sanitair brandschoon en blinkend. De douche piepte (resonerende buizen) wel wat, maar deed het prima. Buitengeluid anders dan de kerkklokken was er niet, en het dakraam was (net als de airco/verwarming en het licht) automatisch te bedienen inclusief de raamblindering.

Soraya bood nog heel vriendelijk aan onze natte en zanderige wandelschoenen te drogen, wat we beleefd hebben afgeslagen omdat drie van ons geen ander schoeisel meehad. Binnen bleek de vloerbedekking van een soort kunststof sisal gelukkig verstandig gekozen en hebben we geen zichtbare sporen nagelaten. In deze B&B is aan werkelijk alles gedacht!

Er is een bar waar je zelf je consumpties kan aftekenen, met voldoende keuze aan drankjes die in een van de stoelen en zitjes met fraai uitzicht op het plein kan nuttigen. Het ontbijt na een prima nacht op eerste Paasdag was fantastisch met wederom veel keuze en persoonlijke aandacht door de bediening.

Bij de checkout apart betaald voor het ontbijt. Een miscommunicatie met Maartje, die bij de telefonische boeking aangaf dat ontbijt ivm eerste paasdag niet mogelijk was. In de daarop volgende e-mails bleek dit al minder een vraagstuk, maar dit was wel verwarrend. Bij de aankomst werd dit gelukkig onmiddelijk door Soraya ontkracht. Maar goed, dit is het enige punt van kritiek dat er toe leidde dat we vooraf voor ontbijt de lokale Spar supermarkt hadden willen bezoeken.

GR5 weer vervolgd, waarbij we alle vier zeer voldaan, uitgerust en aangenaam verrast terugkeken op een echt heerlijk verblijf in Azul. Langs het eerder gelopen Pieterpad dwars door Nederland in vele B&Bs overnacht - maar geen een van zo’n uitzonderlijke klasse als deze. Hele...
