Bed & Breakfast ‘t Westergouwertje — Hotel in Gouda

😊: - The mattress is good. The WLAN works perfectly. The room is very quiet.. 😢: - The owners do not speak English or German at a reasonable level, so communication was problematic. The car park is in front of the house, but the house is in a cul-de-sac with no turning possibility. Parking and driving off are naturally a bit of a hassle. The flat can be reached from the rear entrance of the house and is located directly on the waterfront. Therefore, everything is a bit clammy. The flat is a decent size but the layout is very unorthodox, you walk through the bathroom into the living room/bedroom. The shower works well, but there is no shower gel (but instead all kinds of other products such as EdT for men and women, shampoo etc.). The towels are very worn, the light shines through. This is a good way of recognising who just wants to make money from their guests or make their stay a pleasant one. Sheets and bed linen are a bit too "colourful" and obviously not ironed (or still crumpled from the last guest??) The TV is miniature (but I didn't want to use it anyway) and is in the bedroom. There is a very large sofa bed in the living room, it is not comfortable to sit on. You couldn't watch TV from there anyway because the TV is too far away and too small. Breakfast is just about standard, an egg, a warmed croissant, a slice of cheese (and that in Gouda!!!) a slice of sausage, NO butter (only margarine). And it was served by the host in his pyjamas. That is unprofessional. When I was sitting on the toilet, I was ENERGICALLY drummed out by the landlady because she had an appointment to attend. It was early in the day and I wanted to leave at 8:00 anyway. Nobody was there when I left, so I couldn't ask for a bill. The invoice was sent to me on request, but not as a PDF, but as a scan of an invoice that had already been crumpled up (and thrown away). I am curious to see whether the tax authorities will recognise this invoice. This is absolutely unacceptable for business...

😊: It’s small but clean and comfortable. The terrace right on the water is so peaceful even though there’s a rather large road nearby. We very much enjoyed having our delicious breakfast on the terrace looking at the cute ducks and watching the fish jump. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. Their English may be a little limited but there was no problem understanding each other. All in all wonderful. Would recommend any time.. 😢: Only two little things: I would have liked if there was somewhere to put the suitcase other than the floor. That we only booked...

Very nice studio right on the water! The room was a good size. There were some nice amenities in the room. The view on the water is great! I really enjoyed sitting out on the deck at night. The breakfast was good. They checked and made sure we had whatever we wanted to eat and drink. My only complaint is communication. I asked in advance for the breakfast time and was told to be discussed on arrival, but when I got here there was a set time. They also collect a city tax of which they want in cash, I wish they told me that...
