Camperplaats/Camping De Boskant/ Restaurant — Hotel in Meerssen

Stayed at Camping De Boskant as part of a Mass Route cycling holiday. The camp site was very well equipped in a lovely spot. Unfortunately, the owner of the site didn’t seem to like Brits and she made it abundantly clear that we were not welcome at her site. She told the charming young waitress to only serve our group 250 ml beers when we had ordered larger ones. This was after all of the party had ordered food at the restaurant and having one beer whilst we waited. Additionally, when we tried to extend our stay to an extra night, which was a Thursday I might add, she said that every pitch was booked up. On the Wednesday we stayed, our site area had 3 vans, in a field that could easily accommodate 20. The site must have a special Thursday deal? The camp site was alright. Virtually empty of campers but my daughter and partner whom was with us one night still had to put their tent up at the furthest and most unwelcoming part of the site, (they was the only tent pitched). When they could have at least due to emptiness of site, let them pitch the small tent under our awning. Now as for the restaurant. This seems to cater for the locals more then the visiting tourists as for when we arrived.about mid afternoon couldn't sit down for a well needed drink, as tables was reserved for evening (8pm). And in the evening it self, if visiting campers have not booked a table, forget it no table. As the carpark is full of locals cars . There is also no shop on site nearest shop...

Een gemoedelijke en gezellige camping, weids opgezet en met legio mogelijkheden te gaan staan, in mijn geval met een camper. Daarmee kun je of op een van de twee hoofdvelden staan, met buren op korte afstand, of wat verderop op de plekken in het bos, waar je meestal alleen staat maar waar de satelliet eventueel niets ontvangt. Daar sta je omgeven van hoge bomen, die heerlijk schaduw geven in de zomer waardoor het goed uit te houden is. De sanitaire voorzieningen zijn provisorisch, daar is al genoeg over gezegd en dus geen reden om te gaan klagen. De oplossing is niet ideaal, maar praktisch. Het restaurant is gezellig, je doet er goed aan een tafel te reserveren, het eten is heerlijk en de bediening vriendelijk. En de ijssalon heb ik al apart beoordeeld, die is verslavend. Rustig overdag en vooral 's nachts, heel af en toe hoor je eens een trein of een auto langsrijden, of een vliegtuig starten op Maastricht airport, afhankelijk van hoe de wind staat. In geen geval storend. Goede wandel- en fietsmogelijkheden rondom, honden worden vriendelijk ontvangen, kortom, een heerlijke en eerlijke camping, wat wil je...
