My colleague and I have just returned from five nights staying at this hotel while we attending an event in Ermelo. Our first impression was that the hotel was quiet and peaceful and the staff we first encountered were very pleasant. After the first night that idea was lost. The swimming pool is in the centre of the complex of rooms. EVERY night at around 12.00am or 1.30am and then again at 5.30am or 6.00am a group of men decided to have a pool party with lots of shouting and jumping in an out of the pool. Despite politely telling reception about this every morning, nothing was done. We ate in the restaurant every night as we were tired and didn't want to go out to restaurants after a long day. Despite turning up before 9.00pm (usually around 8.30pm) the staff made us unwelcome with comments about the kitchen closing. We had been told it was open until 9.00pm. There was no obvious place to go to to ask for a table, only a bar with no one behind it most of the time, but when we sat down they were always upset when we did even if we went to try and find someone to see if it was alright to sit there. They were unbelievably rude to us. I have never in all my years ever encountered such astonishingly rude behaviour and appalling customer service. We were not alone. A colleague from Germany who was dining with friends had also received the same treatment as did some Americans who dared to sit in the restaurant at 9.01! If the hotel expects its guests to undertake some specific ritual in order to dine in the hotel restaurant then it would be a good idea to inform them of this when they check in. I have never encountered such an attitude in all my years of travelling. It was a shame as there was a lovely woman helping out at breakfast and two guys and a young girl in the evening who were also lovely. There was one particular older girl who was the most shocking and a girl who had only just started working there who told us they were busy and stressed (the restaurant was half empty) and we were very rude to sit at a table without their permission! This was followed by drinks being slammed down on the table and a 50 minute wait for food. On the last morning the guy who checked us out told us he had a "skin like an elephant" when it came to customers' complaining! Needless to say this is the last hotel in the world I would ever...
Read moreExcellently positioned hotel for a peaceful countryside stay.| The room was clean and comfortable, though a little cold, even though the outside temperature was extremely hot. I am guessing that the cabin has very thick insulation. The room was always dark under the trees, and not facing the sun, which was disappointing. Pleasantly surprised that a coffee pod machine was provided, as well as a small kettle for tea, as this is not standard on the Continent, so I had not brought my usual survival kit with me!| Amazed at the huge size of the shower room, that was set up as a wet room. Unfortunately the shower drain did not work efficiently enough to counter the fact that the room floor sloped away from it! So water pooled across the room under the wash hand basin and vanity unit. This made the floor very slippery and dangerous. A large squeegee mop was provided, but it took some effort to push the water towards the floor drain. I therefore, only showered at night, and very quickly to use less water, when the floor could be left to dry out. The food was good, and vegetarian/vegan options were available. I particularly liked the breakfast buffet, where an excellent selection was set out every morning, and included sliced salad, and fresh fruit. There was only a problem one night, when the travel company hadn't booked dinner for my coach party, and I had been unable to buy food at the Floriad event which was caŕd only, and I had only euros! The hotel restaurant was very busy with another party, and the bar food too was not available....so I suffered a very hungry night. I only wanted bread and cheese, but no one would sell that to me! I often find that hotels, do not do 'basic' food, assuming that guests only want cooked! Thinking about this now, I probably should have gone to Reception to explain my plight, but I just thought it was my fault having only euros with me, and not noticing that only two night's dinners were provided. In the following days, I made sure that I always had cheese and salad rolls, as a backup!|The grounds around the hotel were pleasant and the swimming pool was in an attractive wooded area. Pity though, that there didn't seem to be any shops or cafes in...
Read moreThe room (#122) was a nice style, clean and the bed was comfortable.....but.||Unfortunately the shampoo was empty upon arrival and when we reported this to reception, this was quckly replaced, however housekeeping also removed (and did not replace) most of our towels. Not sure why?|Whoever painted the walls, did not do a good job (see picture) and the wood next to the sink, while looks nice, is not the best choice of material as this easily stains (see picture).||We had dinner 2 nights in the hotel restaurant, however on BOTH nights, our order was messed up. I would really recommend the staff to write the order down to prevent this.||The wine (by the glass) was also not to our liking. I understand this is subjective, but i tried 2 different red wines (grape varieties which i would usually take) and both were not pleasant (cheap wine). My wife had the same experience with her 1 glass of white wine. So 3 different wines in total, and all were not good. ||When we arrived in the room, there were various different coffee pods, however when these were replenished the next day, they were all the same (Unfortunately not with the ones we liked, from the day before).||The plates/cups from the room next door (where breakfast is served), were stored on trays and the trolley is then wheeled through the main restaurant, to the kitchen. I wouldn't mind if this was just once but this happened multiple times, while we we trying to enjoy our dinner, and is very distracting wth the rattling noise. I would expect this in a canteen, but not in a 4* hotel.||The standard of our room / facilties was nice, and probably justified of the 4* rating but unfortunately all the items mentioned above made us give it only an...
