Buitenplaats Langewijk (Cozy Holiday Home) — Hotel in Purmerend

I didn't actually stay here, but I do have a very positive experience with this place. I was biking from Hoorn to Amsterdam an hour or so before sunset when there was a sudden surprise torrential downpour and fierce lightning storm. I was suddenly in pitch dark and pouring rain, and left very vulnerable to lightning strikes. Panicked, I looked up the nearest BnB and it was Buitenplaats Langewijk. I biked there thinking I could ring the doorbell, but then got a bit embarrassed when I realized this is their home as well, and I felt weird just knocking on their front door. I called their number, they answered, and I asked if they had any rooms I could book for the night to wait out the storm. They said they were full booked, but said they could open up their barn where I could shelter from the rain and thunder. I was able to wait and dry off, and the proprietor even came out and offered me coffee and we chatted for a bit. I ended up sheltering there a little over an hour until there was a small window of minimal lightning, when I was able to bike to Purmerend and take the train back to Amsterdam.

+: a pleasant landlord, the apartment is well equipped, the beds are rather comfortable, the kitchen has all the necessary dishes , a quite place with horses and lots of birds, that wake you pleasantly up in the mornings 😁 -: We figured out later that driving the car to the metro was the same price as taking public bus and of course more comfortable and faster. It's around 20 min to the noord metro from the house. Some dishes were not proper, and the frying pans are not good. The heating switches off if there is no movement in the house, so it was rather cold in the morning and evening as we arrived home from city adventures. Łazienka z ubikacją jest na piętrze a sama ubikacja na parterze, Otoczenie domu spokojne, spacerujące kózki i konie. Dla fanów awiacji przelatujące nad głowami samoloty ale nie są uciążliwe.
