I recently stayed here in a 12 person house (number 412 I think) with 7 other relatives, including my parents, aunts, uncles and my grandmother. ||The house was spacious, modern and clean. It had two bedrooms on the ground floor and four more upstairs. The downstairs bedrooms and bathroom with toilet were ideal for my grandmother who can't climb stairs and walks with a walking frame.||There was a total of four toilets, handy when you have a large group of people.||||Every day we saw wild rabbits nibbling at the grass outside. So cute!||||We had a large lounge room and huge dining table, enough space for everyone. There was no washing machine however, strange considering that there was a huge laundry type room behind the kitchen. It was an L shaped room, had a drying rack, broom and mop in it and had its own door leading outside. Plenty of room in there for a washing machine so not sure why they don't have one. Would have been handy, but oh well, we took our washing home.||||We enjoyed the park's indoor heated swimming pool, shopped at the little shop and ate at the buffet place but not at the snack bar. ||||The beds were comfortable but they supplied no top sheets. Just a fitted sheet, pillow with pillow case and a white quilt/comforter/doona (it's called different names in different parts of the world). This bedding was at times too hot but lying on the bed with nothing at all was too cold. At top sheet would have been just right to sleep under. What I did was remove the quilt from its white cover and just slept under the cover.||||We had a little good weather but also some windy/rainy days. In high wind, something bangs on the roof above the two bedrooms with single beds upstairs. We went outside during the day to have a look, and could see nothing at all that could have been banging around on the roof. The noise was loudest in the room I slept in, but could be heard in the other twin single room too. I slept on a couch in the lounge room for one of the nights we stayed, because the banging was constant and I couldn't get to sleep and ear plugs did not help at all. Stangely, the banging stopped the following day and I was able to spend our last night sleeping back in my bed.||||A handle broke off one of the fry pans during our stay. My uncle picked up the pan to flip a pancake and there was an almighty crash as the pan dropped back to the stove top and my uncle was left with the handle in his hand.||||Aside from that, everything else was in working order.||||The wifi internet was free and worked well.||||In all, a good...
Read moreJust got back from a long weekend. It was great, this location benefits from the boat trip you need to take to get to the island. Small children are crazy about going on the boat. Even the dads ;) ||After a 15 min boat trip and a 20min ride on the island you arrive at the other part of the island. We had rented a regular 8 people bungalow, but with two babies extra. Arriving at the reception they upgraded us to a luxury 8 people bungalow because they felt it wouldn't fit. Thank you!||It was amazing, beautiful decorations, interior, furniture, everthing. Also available to us was a sun bed and a sauna for 1-4 people depending on if you are sitting or laying down.||Spacious living room with open kitchen, big attached to house shed or storage. Big bed rooms, nice terrace.||The swimming pool could be accessed by using an extra key on the keyring you receive. The only uncomfortable thing is that you need to take your shoes off in the hall, but in the light of hygiene, good choice.||Swimming pool is not very deep, at the most 1.30m, but great for children up to 14 I think. Only one slide though and not a big one. Some whirlpools and a tiny toddler / baby pool with another small slide. ||The restaurant was amazing, I didn't expect it actually, because from the outside it doesn't look very promising. the menu however was fine, especially considering it's part of the bungalow park. wide menu with fish, vegetarian, meat and buffet for children.||The super market is also fine for a bungalow park, not just the necessary items, but really looking like a supermarket.||The bowling was a fun addition.||The beach is about 2 km away and about 15-20 min walk with small children. We went for a run to the beach, on the beach to the light house and back to De Cocksdorp and it was great! Great feel, especially since it wasn't busy on the beach (yet). Wide...
Read moreDecent vacation park with all facilities you would expect, including a small but expensive supermarket, an indoor pool, a mini golf course, a bowling alley, and a nice restaurant . Staff is friendly and accommodating. Park staff organises daily children activities. The activities are quite nice, but unfortunately a lot of them include a visit of a slightly scary looking mascotte "Bollo the Bear". My kids don't like him, so I'm not sure that making Bollo host all activities was really one of Landal's best ideas. The indoor pool could do with a bit less chlorine. There is no staff to supervise the pool, so it can at times be overrun by older children playing rough games and scaring younger children away. The cottages (we were in a "comfort" cottage) are clean, but quite small. Two adults and two children in a 6-person cottage was OK, but it would be quite a stretch to host 6 adults here, especially if the weather is not so good and you have to spend a lot of time indoors. The luxurious cottages are larger, but I haven't seen those from the inside. The park is in the less crowded part of Texel; I was pleasently surprised by the general peace and quiet around here, even during the holiday season. The beach is a 5-to-10 minute bike ride away, and the village "de Cocksdorp" (with a normal supermarket, a number of tourist shops and restaurants, and a weekly market) is 10-to-15 minutes by bike or 5...
