Been meaning to review this place for over a year (actually went in May 2018 but date is not available to select) to counter a previous negative review I saw about being English or German that made me think twice before booking. I needn't have worried! We found all staff extremely welcoming and helpful. The park and facilities were clean. The kids loved the pools, the go-karts and play areas. I loved the tranquility and the smell of the trees. Our chalet was kind of remote -but I loved that - such a peaceful getaway.||||There are some features of this place that some people may consider a disadvantage, so this site won't suit everyone. You cannot keep driving your car into the site right up to your chalet - on the plus side this means the roads within the site are quiet and safe to walk (or cycle or go-kart) around. I love this. Trolleys are provided to haul your luggage or shopping around which was fun. It's not the easiest base if you want to get out to see places and are relying on public transport - probably best to have your own vehicle. And it's not particularly geared towards English speakers. Again, we don't mind that. We found it fun to try to decipher signs and menus and try out our extremely minimal Dutch. Staff did not automatically address you in English at first but were generally able to switch to English when we struggled - which was generally after the first few words! :-)||||If you accept all that as part of the experience then it's not a problem. My youngest keeps asking when we can go...
Read moreGinkelduin is a huge holiday park in a forest with pitches for camping en a big variation of chalets, bungalows and apartments. You can only get your car onto the park near your bungalow on the day of your arrival and from the afternoon before your departure day, that's something to take into account.||We stayed in a 8 person panorama bungalow, not new, but very well maintained. All of the bungalows have enough privacy.||||They had a good offer on their own website, just after the Dutch autumn holidays. Also sheets are included into the price, that's something you often need to pay an extra fee for in other parks.||There's enough to do on the park for young and old, outside and indoor swinmming pool, bowling, indoor playroom and many playgrounds across the park.||||The surroundings are ideal for cycling and walking. It's pretty close to the motorway A12, so you can easily visit other towns and cities. One disadvantage is that the park is difficult to reach by public transport: the nearest bus stop is in the center of Leersum at least 2,5 km away.||||P.S. I first wrote this review in Dutch, but TA didn't let me post it as it apparently contained profanities (which I couldn't discover). That's why I translated it...
